Surprisingly Useful AI Article Enhancements
Zoom has taken the wraps off Ai Companion 3.0, introducing new agentic Ai features designed to change the way teams communicate and collaborate across its platform. The announcement came at Zoomtopia 2025, the company’s annual flagship conference.
Founder and Chief Executive, Eric S. Yuan, said the release marks a step forward in helping businesses get more out of their everyday conversations.
“Our customers’ most important conversations happen on Zoom, and now those conversations can result in critical insights to fuel real progress,” Yuan said. “With Ai Companion 3.0, our agentic Ai can understand users’ specific context, priorities, and goals to help them cut through the noise, focus on what matters most, and drive meaningful business outcomes.”
Ai As A Work Companion
Zoom said its goal is to provide a unified platform where Ai operates as an intelligent layer across communication and business tools. Ai Companion 3.0 is designed to support meetings, chats, phone calls and emails, while also connecting with third-party integrations.
The tool can now turn conversations into actionable tasks, provide deeper insights from enterprise knowledge, and help manage administrative work so employees can focus on higher-value activities.
Deeper Insights And Notes
A new set of features allows Ai Companion to retrieve and synthesise information from meetings, phone transcripts, chat logs, shared documents and external sources like industry data.
Paid Zoom Workplace users can also access expanded note-taking capabilities across Zoom meetings, in-person meetings and even calls hosted on Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and WebEx.
Managing The Workday
The update introduces proactive skills such as “free up my time,” which can automatically handle lower-priority tasks, as well as meeting preparation and in-meeting recommendations. These tools aim to surface the right information at the right moment, ensuring follow-up items do not get overlooked.
Users can interact with Ai Companion as a collaboration partner that understands recent discussions and projects, offering tailored suggestions and responses.
Zoom has also launched a new work surface available in browsers and the desktop app. This centralises context from multiple sources into a single Ai-driven experience, with features like writing assistance and research capabilities that use both internal and external data.
New Platform Features
Beyond collaboration, Zoom is extending Ai into creative and accessibility features. These include lifelike meeting avatars, the ability to generate clips from presentations, and support for Model Context Protocol (MCP) for configuring customer and virtual agent tools.
The company is also rolling out real-time voice translation for meetings, which it said has shown higher accuracy than competitors in English-to-French and English-to-Spanish translations.
Customisation Options
For businesses seeking tailored solutions, the new Custom Ai Companion lets administrators create and deploy agents through a low-code builder. Pre-built templates and a tooling library are available, and admins can connect to third-party agents using the Agent2Agent protocol.
The general availability of Ai Companion 3.0 is expected in November, at no additional cost for paid Zoom Workplace accounts. The Custom Ai Companion add-on will cost $12 per user each month.
Business Services Expansion
Zoom is also bringing Ai features to its customer-facing tools. Updates to the Customer Experience suite and Zoom Virtual Agent include automation for agent tasks, new business intelligence capabilities and oversight of virtual agent interactions.

A “bring your own voice” feature will allow companies to create brand-aligned conversational agents. Sales teams can also use Zoom Revenue Accelerator, which now includes an agentic prospecting skill that scans event lists, identifies leads, initiates outreach and schedules meetings.
Zoom said the aim of these updates is to reduce repetitive tasks while providing business leaders with more actionable insights.
