Zetifi And Geotab Roll Out Connected Fleet Safety Partnership Across Australia

Zetifi has partnered with global telematics provider Geotab to bring connected fleet safety capabilities to Australian businesses, targeting industries where vehicles and remote workers face heightened operational risk.

The Wagga Wagga-based company, known for developing smart antennas that enhance connectivity in remote regions, said the partnership would provide organisations with data-driven insights into driver behaviour, safety compliance and risk exposure.

Focus On Safety Visibility

“Connected fleet safety is about visibility and proof,” Zetifi Chief Executive, Dan Winson, said.

“Business owners and directors carry real responsibility for how vehicles are used at work. By combining radio-based safety features with one of the world’s leading telematics platforms, we’re helping organisations understand risk, improve behaviour and demonstrate that safety controls are operating in practice.”

Zetifi’s Smart Antenna platform integrates telematics, GNSS, onboard compute and two-way radio capabilities. The hardware is designed for fleet vehicles operating beyond the range of conventional mobile coverage, and can generate safety alerts and operational data in real time.

By embedding telematics directly into antennas and linking them with enterprise systems, the system supports structured reporting and decision-making based on evidence of how vehicles are used and how drivers behave behind the wheel.

Geotab’s Telematics Platform

Geotab, which supports commercial and public-sector fleets globally, brings the telematics backbone to the joint solution. The company’s open platform is already used in transport, utilities, government and mining sectors across Australia.

David Brown, Associate Vice President at Geotab APAC, said the collaboration with Zetifi adds lone-worker and radio-based safety features into existing telematics workflows.

“Australian businesses face rising pressure to show active lone worker safety management,” Brown said.

“We are pleased to welcome Zetifi to our network of partners. Zetifi brings two-way radio-based capabilities such as duress, lone worker check-ins and man-down into an organisation’s existing telematics system and workflows.”

“That approach can add safety capability without the unnecessary complexity of layering in separate duress-specific platforms, while still supporting data-backed decisions to reduce incidents and protect people and business.”

Edge-Based Data And Risk Management

Zetifi’s antennas are engineered to operate as edge devices, capturing data in the field and enabling near real-time analysis even in areas with unreliable backhaul connectivity. This allows organisations to monitor speed, braking, acceleration and cornering to assess driver behaviour.

The data can then be used to support governance requirements, worker safety reviews and board-level reporting.

By turning everyday fleet activity into measurable, documented safety events, Zetifi and Geotab aim to give directors and managers clearer visibility into the risks their teams face, and how those risks are being addressed in practice.

National Rollout Begins

The partnership is already in effect, with two pilot deployments underway and a national rollout planned across industries such as agriculture, construction, mining, utilities, local government and transport.

An entry-level offering is available now, with Zetifi to deliver Connected Fleet Safety as a managed service. This includes structured alerts, regular safety reporting and governance-ready evidence packs.

The company said the approach would appeal to organisations looking to simplify their safety stack without compromising on accountability or compliance.

By consolidating radio and telematics data into a unified platform, Zetifi and Geotab are positioning their joint solution as a lower-complexity pathway to risk visibility and improved driver safety outcomes.
