XPENG Motors Australia has confirmed Australian pricing and specification for the X9, a battery-electric seven-seat MPV now available to order through authorised XPENG dealers across the country. Customer deliveries are expected to commence shortly.

The X9 is XPENG’s first three-row model to launch in Australia. It arrives in two variants: the X9 FWD Standard Range at $89,900 plus on-road costs with up to 535km of WLTP range, and the X9 AWD Performance at $109,900 plus on-road costs with up to 580km of WLTP range. WLTP figures are based on standardised testing and actual driving range will vary depending on conditions.

Damian Royce, Head of Marketing at XPENG ANZ, positioned the X9 as a vehicle that bridges the gap between the MPV and SUV segments.

“The X9 combines the space and practicality of a seven-seat MPV with the refinement of an SUV, using technologies such as Active Rear-Wheel Steering and intelligent dual-chamber air suspension to make it feel far smaller and sharper from behind the wheel,” Royce explained.

“What sets the X9 apart is the way it treats every passenger’s time as something worth designing for, with a cabin and a factory-backed ownership experience that reflects XPENG’s long-term commitment to Australia.”

Platform And Charging

The X9 is built on XPENG’s 800V silicon carbide (SiC) platform with 5C charging capability. The AWD Performance variant supports peak DC charging power of up to 542kW, enabling a 10 to 80 per cent recharge in as little as 12 minutes under test conditions.

The Standard Range variant uses a 94.8kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery while the AWD Performance runs a 110kWh NCM battery. Both variants support 11kW AC charging and 6kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, allowing the vehicle to supply power to external devices.

Handling And Ride

Every X9 comes with Active Rear-Wheel Steering and dual-chamber air suspension as standard. XPENG’s AI chassis system works with these components to manage ride and handling across driving conditions.

The rear-wheel steering delivers a 5.4-metre turning radius, a relevant figure for a vehicle of this size when navigating urban streets and car parks. The suspension adjusts to driving conditions to manage ride comfort at lower speeds while maintaining stability on the highway.

The AWD Performance variant produces up to 370kW and 640Nm, with a claimed 0-100km/h time of 5.9 seconds. XPENG’s aerodynamic “Starship” exterior design achieves a drag coefficient of 0.236.

Interior And Seating

The X9 uses a flat-floor cabin layout with seating for seven. With all seats in use, the boot provides 721 litres of capacity. The 60/40 split-folding second and third rows can be reconfigured into four, five, six or seven-seat layouts, with one-touch folding opening up to 2,554 litres of cargo space.

The second row features XPENG’s Zero Gravity seats with 14-way electric adjustment, heating, ventilation and massage. The third row is heated. Throughout, the cabin uses Nappa leather-appointed seats and a panoramic glass roof.

Climate control covers five zones using what XPENG describes as a “breeze-free” system with over 6,000 micro-holes to distribute airflow.

Technology

The X9 is the first XPENG model in Australia to carry the company’s self-developed Turing AI chip. The chip delivers 750 TOPS of computing power and is used to support system responsiveness, voice interaction and navigation visualisation.

The infotainment system runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset and includes a 17.3-inch central display, a 21-inch head-up display and a 21.4-inch rear entertainment screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included alongside over-the-air software updates.

Audio is handled by a 27-speaker XOPERA system. Other cabin features include a voice-controlled refrigerator that operates between 0 and 50 degrees Celsius and dual 50W wireless charging pads.

Data connectivity comes included with the vehicle. Maps and core vehicle software receive unlimited ongoing access while entertainment services are covered by 12 months of unlimited data.

Driver Assistance

The X9’s XPILOT Assist system uses cameras, radar and ultrasonic sensors to support a range of driver assistance functions including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centering Control, Automatic Emergency Braking and Blind Spot Detection.

Parking functions include Enhanced Auto Parking Assist, Remote Parking Assist, Auto Exit Parking Assist and a 360-degree surround-view camera with transparent chassis view. Feature availability is subject to the final Australian specification.

XPENG notes that XPILOT Assist is a driver support system and does not replace safe driving practices. Drivers remain responsible for the vehicle at all times.

Safety

The X9 has been engineered to meet five-star safety standards. The body structure uses front and rear integrated casting with a torsional rigidity of 46,000 Nm/deg and a 2,000 MPa cage-style structure incorporating 19 circular safety designs.

The vehicle carries nine airbags including a 70.9-litre side air curtain. XPENG lists 16 active safety features and its 6D Battery Safety technology. The company also claims the X9 maintains stable driving performance following a tyre blowout.

Warranty And Service

XPENG vehicles sold by XPENG ANZ from 1 June 2026 are covered by a seven-year warranty with unlimited kilometres for private owners. Commercial-use vehicles are covered for seven years or 160,000 kilometres, whichever occurs first.

The traction battery, Battery Management System, drive motor and Intelligent Power Unit carry an eight-year or 160,000-kilometre warranty. Paint is covered for five years with unlimited kilometres. Anti-corrosion and anti-rust protection runs for seven years with unlimited kilometres.

The recommended service interval is every 12 months or 20,000 kilometres. Warranty is delivered through XPENG ANZ’s local operation and authorised service network.

Availability

The X9 is available to order in six exterior colours and three interior colours. Drive-away pricing, dealer locations and test-drive bookings are available at xpeng.com/au.
