Surprisingly Useful AI Article Enhancements
Xero has launched a live integration with Anthropic’s Claude, allowing small businesses and their advisors to pull real-time financial data directly into AI-powered conversations without leaving the platform.
The integration, which builds on a multi-year partnership announced in late March, works in two directions. It brings Claude into Xero and puts Xero’s financial data and tools into Claude.ai. Users with an active Xero subscription can now surface their financial information inside Claude conversations to answer business questions on the fly.
The company has more than 4.5 million subscribers across more than 180 countries.
Live data, not static exports
The integration connects Claude to live Xero data rather than requiring users to export spreadsheets or reports. This means users can ask Claude about their current cash position, check overdue invoices or review how profit is tracking, and receive answers based on up-to-date figures.
The insights generated within Claude link back to Xero, allowing users to click through to the full report, contact record or invoice detail to take action.
The areas covered include revenue and profit trends with comparisons over time, contacts and receivables including outstanding payments and top revenue-contributing customers, and financial position including assets, liabilities and cash flow.
Diya Jolly, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Xero, framed the integration around keeping users in their workflow.
“AI is rapidly becoming an integral part of our customers’ workspace, and to be effective, that workspace requires Xero’s trusted financial intelligence as its foundation,” Jolly explained.
“When customers engage in wide-ranging conversations with Claude about their business strategy or day-to-day operations, they can now use Claude to instantly pull up their cash position, check overdue invoices, or see how profit is tracking, all without breaking their flow of work.”
Built on reusable agentic foundations
Xero noted that the integration uses the same foundational capabilities that power JAX, its AI-driven financial analysis tool. The company designed its agentic reasoning foundations to be reusable from the outset, which it credits with accelerating delivery of the Claude integration.
The approach reflects a broader strategy of making Xero’s financial intelligence available wherever customers are working, rather than requiring them to come to Xero each time they need an answer.
“That’s what it means to have Xero wherever you work and it’s part of our commitment to ensuring customers can leverage Xero at every point in their decision-making process,” Jolly added.
Data stays in the session
Data handling has been a central consideration in the partnership. Financial data shared between the two platforms is used solely for the user’s specific session. Proprietary business data is not used to train Claude’s AI models, in line with Xero’s responsible data use commitments.
The distinction matters for small businesses and their advisors, where financial data is often sensitive and subject to regulatory obligations. Xero has positioned the integration under what it calls “Accountable Intelligence,” its framework for delivering AI experiences with clear data governance.
Extending the Xero platform
The integration extends what Xero describes as Xero OS, its platform strategy for delivering a connected financial system. By plugging into Claude, Xero is making its data accessible within a third-party AI environment while maintaining its role as the system of record.

For small business owners who are already using Claude for tasks like drafting communications, planning strategy or researching ideas, the integration means financial context is now available in the same place without switching tools.
