Westcon-Comstor Inks Multi-Region Deal To Distribute Sonar’s AI Code Verification Platform

Global technology distributor, Westcon-Comstor, has signed a multi-region distribution agreement with AI code verification and governance vendor, Sonar, covering channel partners across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia-Pacific.

The deal makes Sonar’s core platform, SonarQube, available to Westcon-Comstor’s partner network, giving resellers, systems integrators and service providers the ability to extend their DevSecOps offerings with automated code verification that helps development and security teams find and fix vulnerabilities, exposed secrets and other code issues before software reaches production.

AI-assisted development creates new risk surface

The agreement is positioned around the growing adoption of AI and agentic tools in software development workflows. While AI-assisted coding accelerates output, it also introduces new categories of risk if the generated code is not systematically verified before deployment.

According to Sonar’s own research, SonarQube users are 44 per cent less likely to report AI-derived production outages. The company also claims that maintaining code quality through its platform can reduce token usage by 7-8 per cent, with further reductions possible when AI agents are guided with governed context.

Sonar’s Agent Centric Development Cycle (AC/DC) methodology provides a framework for managing AI-generated code through three stages: guiding AI agents with appropriate context and constraints, verifying their output through multi-layered feedback loops and resolving issues before they reach production.

Gitar acquisition adds AI-native code review

Sonar recently acquired Gitar, adding AI-native code review capabilities to its platform. The acquisition extends the verification chain by combining automated code analysis with AI-driven review, giving organisations a broader set of checks across their development pipeline regardless of which AI tools they use.

The platform analyses more than 750 billion lines of code daily and is used by more than seven million developers globally. Its customer base includes Nvidia, ServiceNow, Booking.com, Goldman Sachs, AstraZeneca and Ford Motor Company.

Sonar holds a Leader position in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Technical Debt Management Tools.

Channel opportunity in code governance

Senior Director of Vendor Acquisition at Westcon-Comstor, Adam Davison, described the deal as both a commercial and strategic opportunity for channel partners.

“The rapid adoption of AI-assisted software development, combined with the shift-left movement, is creating new openings for partners as software quality, governance and security become board-level priorities,” Davison commented.

He pointed to consolidation demand as a further driver, noting that many organisations are looking to replace fragmented development and security toolsets with a single platform.

“By combining Sonar’s solutions with our enablement capabilities, technical expertise and international reach, we’re empowering partners across EMEA and APAC to win new customers, expand existing relationships and drive sustainable revenue growth,” Davison added.

Verification as a trust layer

VP of Worldwide Channel at Sonar, Scott Musson, framed the partnership around the gap between development speed and production confidence.

“Organisations are embracing AI to accelerate software development, but speed only creates value if teams can trust what gets shipped,” Musson remarked.

“Westcon-Comstor’s global reach, channel expertise and value-added approach make it a strong distribution partner for expanding Sonar’s platform to more customers,” he continued. “Together, we can help partners support organisations as they scale AI and agentic coding with stronger verification, clearer governance and greater confidence in every line of code.”

What partners get

Westcon-Comstor operates across more than 50 countries and goes to market through three lines of business: Westcon, Comstor and Rebura.

Partners picking up the Sonar line will have access to Westcon-Comstor’s value-added distribution model, which includes technical enablement, market intelligence and data-driven lead generation alongside support for customer adoption, expansion and renewals.

The distributor flagged short sales cycles, fast time to revenue and upsell and cross-sell potential as characteristics of the Sonar opportunity, with the platform positioned to generate recurring revenue streams for partners who embed it within existing customer relationships.

Sonar’s platform embeds automated code analysis directly into AI-driven development workflows, providing security and development teams with a shared view of code risk. The approach supports faster remediation and stronger governance as software environments grow in complexity.
