Vodafone is set to mark the doubling of its mobile network across Australia with a free live performance by ARIA-nominated electronic music duo, Bag Raiders. The event will take place at Sydney’s Martin Place on Thursday, 30 January, and coincides with the switch-on of Vodafone’s expanded coverage, now spanning over one million square kilometres.
Doubling Coverage Across Australia
The network expansion represents a major milestone for Vodafone, tripling its regional site numbers and extending its population coverage to 98.4 per cent. This improvement means more Aussies will have access to Vodafone’s services, particularly in regional areas.
“This doubling of our mobile network across Australia will supercharge our services, providing better regional coverage, performance and speed for millions of people where they live, work and play,” said Kieren Cooney, Vodafone Group Executive, Consumer, Data and Analytics.
Cooney emphasised the importance of reliable connectivity for Australians, particularly those traveling or living in regional areas. “This is a significant upgrade for the millions of Australians who want great value and great regional mobile coverage where they live or when they travel to destinations Australians love to visit.”
Bag Raiders Take the Stage
Bag Raiders, the electronic music duo known for their anthem “Shooting Stars,” will headline the event. Chris Stracey and Jack Glass have a strong international following and are celebrated for their dynamic live performances. Their music has been streamed over 4 billion times online, cementing their place in global dance music.
“We’re excited to be performing all the hits in our hometown to celebrate Vodafone doubling its network,” said Glass.
Stracey highlighted the importance of strong mobile connectivity for their work. “Having good mobile coverage wherever you are is vital. When we’re touring, we rely so much on our phones to stay connected with friends and family, check our itineraries and post to socials.”
Celebrating Regional Connectivity
Vodafone’s network upgrade has been made possible through a new network-sharing arrangement. The initiative is designed to improve service quality and coverage in regional Australia, addressing connectivity challenges for those living and working in remote areas.
To engage regional fans, Bag Raiders are running a competition on Instagram. Regional Australians are invited to share where they’re from in the comments of the duo’s post for a chance to win an exclusive video call with the artists, conducted on a Samsung phone.
“This is an opportunity to connect with fans in regional areas who will benefit from the expanded coverage,” Stracey added.
Invitation to Martin Place
To celebrate the launch of Vodafone’s expanded network, the public is invited to Martin Place in Sydney on 30 January from 12 pm to 2 pm. Fans can enjoy a live performance by Bag Raiders while experiencing the benefits of the enhanced network firsthand.
