Vertiv Launches Overhead Prefab Infrastructure To Speed Data Centre Builds In Asia

Vertiv has launched a modular overhead infrastructure platform designed to help data centre operators across Asia deploy high-density sites more quickly and with fewer labour requirements.

Unveiled this week at SCA/HPCAsia 2026 in Osaka, Japan, the new SmartRun solution integrates power distribution, liquid cooling piping, network infrastructure and hot-aisle containment into a prefabricated modular system aimed at colocation and hyperscale sites under pressure to scale fast.

According to Vertiv Vice President of Products and Solutions for Asia, Tony Gaunt, regional demand is being driven by the rapid uptake of Ai and cloud workloads.

“Across Asia, data centre operators are under intense pressure to scale rapidly while managing space constraints, labour availability and rising power densities,” Gaunt said.

“SmartRun addresses these challenges by enabling faster, more predictable deployments with prefabricated, integrated overhead infrastructure. It gives customers in the region a practical path to accelerate time to revenue, support advanced cooling requirements and build future-ready facilities without adding operational complexity.”

Up To 85 Per Cent Faster Deployment

The company claims SmartRun can reduce onsite deployment times by up to 85 per cent compared to conventional stick-built methods, enabling installations of more than 1 MW per day with a single crew.

By integrating elements such as stainless steel secondary fluid network (SFN) piping, pre-fabricated containment systems, and plug-and-play network cabling, Vertiv says it removes many of the design and coordination barriers typically involved in outfitting data centre overhead infrastructure.

It also reduces the need for separate engineering reviews and multi-vendor coordination, making it easier for operators to bring sites online faster.

The company is targeting both greenfield and retrofit installations and says the SmartRun system is especially suited to hyperscale and colocation environments deploying Ai training infrastructure at scale.

Focus On Liquid Cooling Integration

A key feature of the SmartRun system is its support for liquid cooling. With power densities increasing, particularly in Ai deployments, Vertiv has incorporated a prefabricated stainless steel liquid cooling loop to simplify the adoption of secondary fluid networks.

This integration, the company said, allows operators to accelerate the commissioning of liquid-cooled racks without having to redesign their thermal infrastructure from scratch.

The system is supported by Vertiv’s Liquid Cooling Services and its global Services division, which provides installation, optimisation and maintenance support for liquid-cooled environments.

Market Push Backed By Regional Demand

The launch comes amid ongoing growth in Asia’s data centre market, with hyperscale providers, cloud players and telecoms investing heavily in new capacity.

Southeast Asia and North Asia have both seen a wave of infrastructure builds over the past year, with Ai, gaming, video streaming and cloud storage driving demand for faster deployments and energy-efficient infrastructure.

Vertiv has positioned SmartRun as a response to these trends, with its modularity and pre-engineered design aimed at reducing time-to-revenue and supporting higher thermal loads.

Vertiv used the high-performance computing conference in Osaka to debut SmartRun for the Asia market, demonstrating its scalability and integration capabilities for Ai-ready data centres.
