VAST Data announces support for speedy new Veeam platform

VAST Data, a data platform company, has announced that it will support the new Veeam Data Platform to enhance its partnership with Veeam and to help enterprise organizations eliminate the threat of extended downtime following a ransomware attack. The Universal Storage of VAST has been verified as Veeam Ready Object with Immutability, part of the Veeam Alliance Program, which ensures that customers have a cyber-hardened platform with best-of-breed safeguards for all their critical data assets.

According to VAST, its Universal Storage delivers exabyte-scale all-flash storage for a wide range of applications, including backups and fast restores with Veeam. The company claims that it can restore business-critical data and applications up to 50x faster than legacy purpose-built backup appliances, meeting stringent recovery time objectives by providing 8x more backup performance at 40 per cent lower than legacy backup targets and object stores.

Plan B Limited New Zealand, a joint customer of VAST and Veeam that specializes in information and communications technology and business continuity, said that the combined VAST and Veeam solution enables them to create new products that disrupt the market. Diego Nievas, Director of Product and Technology Innovation at Plan B, said, “This means that, by partnering with VAST and Veeam combined, we can ring-fence our data with immutability that starts with the backup job creation and carries all the way through to the physical media.”

The VAST and Veeam partnership also provides data immutability, instant recovery and operations, scalability enhancements, direct-to-object backup, and world-leading storage efficiency. Andreas Neufert, Vice President of Product Management, Alliances at Veeam, said, “The new Veeam Data Platform… is a single platform delivering more advanced data security, recovery, and hybrid cloud capabilities than ever before.”

George Axberg, Vice President of Data Protection at VAST Data, added, “Modern Data Protection software paired with VAST’s affordable all-flash target is a winning combination in the fight against ransomware, offering impacted organizations a clear path to business as usual.”

VAST Data’s managed storage software aims to unlock the value of data and modernize data centers for the era of AI computing. Since its launch in February 2019, VAST has become the fastest-selling infrastructure company in history.
