TechnologyOne has released a set of AI-powered features across its SaaS ERP platform, targeting higher education institutions, local councils and enterprise customers.

The company is embedding conversational AI agents into workflows used by students, employees and local government staff, with the stated aim of reducing administrative burden and simplifying how people interact with institutional systems.

The release spans several product areas, including a conversational AI tool for university students, expanded AI agents for finance teams and updates to council-facing property and rating systems.

Guide For Students

The centrepiece of the release is Guide for students, a conversational AI product built for the higher education sector.

The tool is designed to help university students navigate administrative processes – from enrolment through to graduation – by asking questions through a single interface. It connects to an institution’s core systems to surface information, services and support in a conversational format.

Students can use the tool to complete tasks and access guidance, while institutions gain visibility into student engagement and support patterns.

TechnologyOne’s Executive Vice President for Education, Mark Jones, pointed to a persistent gap in the sector.

“Universities have invested heavily in digital transformation, yet the student experience often remains fragmented,” Jones explained. “Guide combines AI and enterprise intelligence to create a simple, connected and personalised experience for every student.”

Alongside Guide, the company has introduced several other education-focused capabilities. These include DxP Apply, a self-service application experience, and AI-powered identity verification designed to streamline enrolment and onboarding. TechnologyOne has also added tools for invigilator scheduling and exam administration.

Together, the features target what the company describes as complexity in the student lifecycle, aiming to reduce the number of disconnected touchpoints students encounter across their university journey.

AI Agents For Enterprise Workflows

TechnologyOne is also expanding its Plus platform with a growing suite of AI agents aimed at finance, procurement, projects and operational teams.

The agents are designed to let employees access information, surface insights and complete tasks using natural language and voice conversations. Among the additions are agents for general ledger, debtor and creditor functions.

The company is positioning Plus as a way for organisations to reduce administrative effort and accelerate decision-making across ERP workflows. By combining enterprise data and context, the platform aims to move users from questions to actions within their existing systems, rather than requiring them to switch between tools.

Property And Rating Updates For Local Government

For the local government sector, TechnologyOne has introduced updates to its Property & Rating module. The changes are aimed at council administration, customer service and governance processes.

The updates are intended to help councils manage customer records, regulatory processes and rating workflows with less manual effort and greater consistency across operations. They cover areas including data quality, customer interactions and service delivery.

TechnologyOne’s Executive Vice President for Local Government, Ben Malpass, framed the changes around the expectations of residents.

“Every interaction matters, whether it’s submitting an application, seeking advice or managing property information,” Malpass commented. “Residents judge councils by the quality of the services they receive, not the systems that sit behind them.”

“By simplifying everyday processes, councils can spend less time navigating administration and more time supporting their communities.”

Malpass described the broader direction as one focused on embedding intelligence into everyday workflows rather than introducing additional standalone tools.

“This next evolution isn’t about adding more tools to the workplace. It’s about embedding intelligence into the workflows people use every day,” he added, noting the approach is intended to help staff “focus less on navigating systems and more on making decisions, solving problems and delivering outcomes.”

Broader AI Direction

The features form part of TechnologyOne’s ongoing push to embed AI capabilities across its SaaS ERP platform. The company’s approach centres on integrating AI into the systems and services already in use by its customer base in education, local government and enterprise, rather than offering AI as a separate product layer.

The updates are available as part of the company’s 26B software release.
