Surprisingly Useful AI Article Enhancements
Strategic communications consultancy Sefiani and parent company Clarity Global have launched Surfacd, a proprietary AI visibility monitoring tool designed to help brands track how they appear across AI search platforms.
The tool, announced on 17 February 2026, monitors brand presence across platforms including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Grok, AI Mode and AI Overviews.
What Surfacd does
Surfacd uses category-specific prompts to analyse brand visibility and consistency across AI-generated responses on priority topics. It also benchmarks performance against competitors within AI search and identifies the underlying sources, signals and narratives that shape how AI platforms interpret and recommend brands.
The platform is positioned as a way to bring measurement standards already applied in traditional SEO, PR and digital analytics to the emerging field of AI search.
Rachel Gilley, Chief Executive Officer at Clarity Global, said the tool addresses a growing gap in how brands understand their AI presence.
“2026 is an inflection point. AI is now fully embedded in how buyers research and shortlist vendors. As a result, leadership teams are grappling to see how their brand appears across platforms,” Gilley said.
“Surfacd has been built to give marketers – particularly B2B marketers – visibility into AI search and to deliver insights that can be measured consistently within a measurement framework that is already applied across SEO, PR and digital analytics.”
AI search adoption in Australia
The launch comes as AI-powered search gains traction among Australian consumers. According to PayPal Australia, 48 per cent of Australians are now using AI for online product search, a figure that rises to 66 per cent for those under 45.
In the B2B space, a survey conducted by Clarity Global with a UK sample found that 80 per cent of B2B buyers spend at least an hour a week using AI for decision-making and 65 per cent rely on AI answers to create their vendor shortlists.
Despite those numbers, many B2B brands remain largely invisible in AI-generated answers, even where they have invested in SEO, PR and content.
How the tool works
Surfacd goes beyond keyword tracking to surface real-world signals that shape AI responses and brand visibility. Marketing and communications teams can use it to identify the publications, analysts and commentators that actively shape AI responses in their category.
SEO and digital teams can use the platform to pinpoint which content assets have the most impact on AI visibility and focus optimisation efforts accordingly.
Will Julian-Vicary, Chief Technology Officer at Clarity Global, built the tool and said it is designed to open up what has been an opaque area for marketers.
“By monitoring the same interfaces users rely on, we show brands how they compare to competitors and which websites are influencing the AI systems when answering questions in their category,” Julian-Vicary said.
“That clarity moves marketing and communications teams from educated guesswork to insight-led planning, so they can make more impactful decisions and clearly prove results.”

Target users
The tool is aimed at three main segments: enterprise brands and market leaders looking to protect established brand positions and ensure consistent inclusion in AI-generated category discussions; growth-stage challengers that see AI as an opportunity to compete against incumbents with an SEO advantage; and senior marketing and communications leaders who need defensible visibility data to inform strategy and investment decisions.
Relevance to the Australian market
Mandy Galmes, Managing Partner – Australia at Sefiani, said the tool arrives at a time when Australian buyers are increasingly turning to AI-generated overviews in their decision-making processes.
“This tool couldn’t be more timely for Australian businesses. We are a highly connected, regulated market and can see buyers moving to AI-generated overviews for decision making which is compressing the buying cycle,” Galmes said.
“When stakeholders are building their understanding of your brand credentials, product compliance and reputation from AI overviews, brands can’t afford to be misrepresented, or worse still, not appear.”
Galmes said the tool helps marketers and communicators align earned, owned, paid and social messaging so that a brand’s story remains consistent across every platform where it appears.
“As generative search becomes the default starting point, the winners in 2026 will be the brands that can prove credibility at every touchpoint,” she said.
Generative Engine Optimisation service to follow
Surfacd provides the data and intelligence that underpins Clarity’s Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) service, which is set to launch in Australia at the end of March 2026. The GEO service is designed to deliver large-scale, enterprise-level projects that shape how brands are represented and recommended across AI-driven discovery at category level.
