Satori has expanded its OK2Pay payment verification platform to cover international transactions, bringing the service’s reach to more than 50 countries and targeting what the company describes as a persistent weakness in how organisations handle cross-border payments.
The expansion is aimed at closing a gap in payment control frameworks that has existed for years – the lack of consistent, automated verification for international payments.
The scale of the problem
Australia handles a significant volume of cross-border payments. AUSTRAC recorded more than 232 million international funds transfer instructions in 2024-25, alongside close to $630 billion in imports of goods and services.
Despite those figures, many organisations still rely on manual methods to verify international payments. That includes email confirmations, phone calls and processes that vary from one jurisdiction to the next.
The result is a mismatch between the volume of money moving across borders and the controls in place to check those payments are going where they should.
What OK2Pay’s international capability does
Rather than layering additional coverage on top of existing processes, Satori argues the new capability changes the underlying approach to how international payments are controlled.
Organisations using the platform can apply verification consistently across jurisdictions, reduce their reliance on email and phone-based validation and integrate the checks into their existing payment workflows.
The intent is to shift from catching problems after the fact to preventing them before a payment is made – aligning international transactions with the same verification standard that is increasingly expected for domestic ones.
Fraud and error risks are growing
Gavin Steinberg, Chief Executive Officer of Satori, pointed to the increasing speed and complexity of cross-border transactions as a driver for the expansion.
“The scale of cross-border payments has increased, the speed of transactions has increased and the level of sophistication in fraud and error has increased with it,” Steinberg explained.
“The problem is that the control environment hasn’t kept up. Many organisations are still relying on manual checks, fragmented processes and assumptions that were never designed for this level of complexity.”
Replacing judgement with consistency
Steinberg described the new capability as bringing international payments back inside a structured verification model.
“What this capability does is bring international payments back inside a structured, scalable verification model. It removes the reliance on judgement and replaces it with consistency,” he added.
“At today’s volumes, even a very small failure rate becomes material. This is about closing a gap that most organisations know exists – but haven’t been able to solve in a practical way.”
A control gap that has persisted
The challenge with international payment verification has not been a lack of awareness, according to Steinberg.

“For a long time, international payments have sat just outside the core control environment for most organisations. Not because people weren’t aware of the risk, but because verifying those payments consistently has always been difficult,” he remarked.
The expansion means organisations can now take a more consistent approach to payment verification across all the jurisdictions they operate in, rather than treating international and domestic payments as separate control problems.
