The event will take place on Sunday, 23 February 2025, at Head Street Reserve in Elwood. Participants will compete in either the Full Relay, where each team member completes all three disciplines, or the Fun Relay, which allows participants to divide the swimming, cycling and running segments among teammates.

The Full Relay will begin at 8.00 am and conclude at 9.25 am, while the Fun Relay is scheduled from 9.30 am to 11.00 am.

Supporting Wheelchair Basketball

The Kevin Coombs Cup is Australia’s premier national championship for junior wheelchair basketball athletes. Named after Kevin Coombs OAM, a pioneer in Australian wheelchair basketball, the tournament provides young athletes with a platform to showcase their skills and gain valuable experience at the national level.

Caine Hillier, General Manager of Salto Oceania, emphasised the importance of supporting adaptive sports.

“This event unites corporate teams, fitness enthusiasts and community supporters in the spirit of camaraderie, health and social impact,” Hillier said.

Squad Salto Takes On The Challenge

Representing Salto across Australia and New Zealand, Squad Salto will take part in the triathlon. The team consists of 17 Salto employees, who will tackle a 300m swim, a 10km cycle and a 4km run.

The triathlon is supported by key sponsors, including LSC as a Gold Sponsor and SecureTel as a Silver Sponsor.

“The Salto Foundation is dedicated to breaking barriers and creating meaningful opportunities for athletes in adaptive sports. By championing initiatives that support para-athletes, Salto provides the resources, recognition and competitive opportunities needed to reach the highest levels. This sponsorship reflects our core values of teamwork, accessibility and social impact,” said Hillier.

Friendly Game To Follow

Following the triathlon, Salto employees will participate in a wheelchair basketball match at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre on the afternoon of 25 February. The game will provide participants with firsthand experience of the sport and highlight the skill and determination of para-athletes.

The event will also include a presentation from Basketball Australia, and Salto will officially present the funds raised to the Victorian Wheelchair Basketball Team.

“Our aim is to raise over $35,000 and present the cheque to Basketball Australia on the day,” Hillier said.
