Rubrik has unveiled a new cyber resilience solution aimed at enhancing the security of Microsoft Azure Blob Storage. The solution is designed to provide organisations with greater visibility into their cloud data, enabling robust protection and ensuring business resilience.
As businesses increasingly rely on cloud technologies, the risk of security blind spots grows. Rubrik’s latest offering aims to address this by combining cyber posture and recovery capabilities for Azure Blob Storage users, enhancing the security of critical repositories for sensitive business data.
Addressing Cloud Data Security Challenges
Microsoft Azure Blob Storage is widely used across industries for storing unstructured data, including archives, compliance records, and data for machine learning models. However, the security of this data is often overlooked compared to on-premises or SaaS environments.
“Seventy per cent of Rubrik-observed data in the cloud is object storage, which typically has far lower security coverage,” said Anneka Gupta, Chief Product Officer at Rubrik. “Nearly 90 per cent of this data consists of text or semi-structured files that are often not fully secured. This represents a significant challenge for businesses, but our solution offers a path forward.”

The rise of generative Ai and large language models has contributed to a surge in data stored in cloud repositories. Aung Oo, General Manager of Microsoft Azure Storage, highlighted the importance of securing these vast amounts of information. “Protecting critical Ai data at scale in cloud object repositories like Azure Blob Storage requires a purpose-built cyber resilience solution, and that’s what Rubrik delivers.”

- Automatic discovery and classification of data without requiring the source data to leave the customer’s environment.
- Security posture assessment to ensure compliance with business policies.
- Continuous monitoring for risky user activity and early threat detection.
- Data redundancy identification to reduce cloud costs.
- Support for backup storage in Azure Blob Storage Cool and Cold tiers, lowering total cost of ownership.
- Rapid recovery capabilities, including object-level and whole-container recovery options.
