Payment provider expands with retail and distribution support
Roadhound has launched SumUp, a European POS payment provider, in the Australian market. The move aims to provide merchants with cost-effective and integrated payment solutions backed by retail and distribution support.
SumUp’s POS systems offer several advantages for Australian businesses, including real-time payments, transparent fees, and cloud-based transaction management. The platform enables direct fund transfers to merchants’ bank accounts, improving cash flow and minimising delays.
Ben Sharma, Founder and Managing Director of Roadhound, said the introduction of SumUp aligns with the company’s goal to bring new digital solutions to the retail sector.
“Our partnership with SumUp provides businesses with an accessible and flexible payment system that supports growth without the burden of hidden costs or lock-in contracts,” Sharma said.
Features and affordability
SumUp offers a flat 1.6 per cent transaction fee with no minimum thresholds, monthly costs, or contracts. The system’s cloud-based management allows merchants to monitor transactions from any location, providing real-time business insights.
Flexible payment plans reduce initial investment costs, making the system viable for small and medium enterprises. The robust design of SumUp’s devices ensures reliability and uninterrupted service.
The launch is backed by major Australian retailers, including Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, and Bing Lee.
Addressing economic challenges
The introduction of SumUp comes as Australian businesses face rising costs and economic pressures. The system offers merchants a cost-effective alternative to traditional POS solutions while also helping consumers benefit from competitive pricing.
Sharma said the collaboration with national retailers and Roadhound’s distribution network would help drive adoption across different business sectors.
“Our extensive retail network and support capabilities ensure merchants have the tools and flexibility they need to adapt in a changing market,” he said.
Supporting digital transformation
SumUp’s platform integrates payment processing with business management tools, eliminating the need for separate systems. Its end-to-end approach simplifies operations for small businesses, allowing them to focus on customer service and growth.
Sharma highlighted that the launch of SumUp coincides with Roadhound’s 20-year partnership with Samsung and reflects the company’s continued investment in bringing new technologies to market.
“We remain committed to helping retailers access innovative solutions that enhance their operations and improve the customer experience,” he said.
