Melbourne-based analytics company Prophet has appointed Matthew Winter as its new Head of Engineering, marking a significant milestone in its rapid growth. Winter joins Prophet from Google Cloud, where he served as Principal Architect, leading data transformation and machine learning operations for enterprise clients.
Extensive Technical Background
With more than 24 years of experience in analytics, database management, and cloud technologies, Winter brings deep expertise to Prophet’s team. His career spans roles at Microsoft, where he was a Senior Program Manager and Technical Specialist for Azure, and at organisations like Servian, Medibank Private, Barclays Bank, Vodafone, and The Just Group.
Winter is widely regarded for his innovative approach to data engineering. Reflecting on his move, he said, “I’ve worked in Australia’s technology field for over 15 years and have seen some remarkable technical solutions. Prophet’s offering stands out as a bold and forward-thinking approach to tackling complex marketing challenges.”
Scaling Prophet’s Platform
Since its launch in March, Prophet has gained traction with businesses in retail, insurance, automotive, on-demand delivery, and cyber security. Its unique Commercial Mix Modelling platform uses advanced mathematics and predictive intelligence to help organisations navigate an increasingly complicated marketing landscape.
Winter will oversee the optimisation of Prophet’s data ingestion capabilities, ensuring clients can securely and efficiently integrate their organisational data for cloning and analysis.
Prophet CEO and co-founder Jordan Taylor-Bartels emphasised the significance of Winter’s appointment. “Matt’s expertise in data engineering and solution architecture will enable us to process critical organisational DNA with precision and speed,” he said. “Prophet is redefining how brands predict the ROI on marketing spend. With Matt’s leadership, we’ll continue to scale our capabilities and help businesses make informed decisions with greater confidence.”
Addressing Industry Challenges
Prophet aims to solve inefficiencies in marketing budgets, which Taylor-Bartels estimates cost businesses $1 trillion annually. Its platform enables brands to identify the drivers of success within their marketing strategies and offers predictive tools to refine future campaigns.
“Prophet’s technology empowers CMOs to bridge strategy with execution. It’s operational across departments and accessible to diverse teams, making it a game-changer for businesses looking to maximise their marketing investments,” Taylor-Bartels added.
Start-Up Expertise
Winter’s background in mentoring start-ups and scale-ups aligns with Prophet’s ambitious growth plans. Taylor-Bartels highlighted his ability to balance technical and customer-centric approaches. “Matt understands what it takes to grow a technology business while ensuring that customer needs remain a priority. His belief in innovation as a solution to real-world problems makes him an ideal fit for Prophet.”
Winter’s appointment is effective immediately.
