Optus has announced that its enterprise and business customers can now access high-speed, uncapped internet via satellite, provided they have a clear view of the sky. The new service, called Satellite Internet for Business, marks Optus as an authorised reseller of Starlink’s low-latency, high-throughput satellite broadband, further expanding its connectivity options for businesses.

A Comprehensive Service for Business

Optus is positioning itself as a one-stop shop for customers, offering installation, billing, troubleshooting, and help-desk services, including priority support from Starlink’s help-desk. The solution will enable businesses across Australia, from regional to remote areas, to access reliable internet. This will be especially important in locations where other forms of connectivity are limited or unavailable.

Ben Vella, Vice President Enterprise and Mid-Market at Optus, highlighted the service’s potential to enhance digital connectivity for businesses.

“This is a great example of Optus connecting more Australians and providing options to our enterprise and business customers across Australia. We know that small and medium-sized businesses are the backbone of the Australian economy, and at Optus, we are committed to ensuring they are supported in our digital world,” Vella said.

Prioritised Data for Business Needs

The service comes with a higher gain antenna, providing businesses with prioritised data, which means they will receive additional throughput allocation. This also enhances performance in extreme weather conditions, ensuring that businesses can maintain internet connectivity even during challenging circumstances. Optus’ Satellite Internet for Business also offers Priority Fixed and Priority Mobility options, ensuring that businesses on the move or in fixed locations can access the bandwidth they need.

Vella emphasised Optus’ commitment to adapting to evolving technological needs.

“Our customers depend on Optus to adapt at the speed of technology to meet their evolving needs, and this is a great example of how Optus is pushing boundaries by empowering Australia’s positive connections, while putting customers at the heart of what we do,” Vella said.

Connectivity in All Locations

This new service provides an important form of redundancy for businesses, offering a backup in the event of natural disasters such as fires or floods. Optus’ Satellite Internet for Business ensures businesses are not left without connectivity when other services fail.

The service is available to enterprise and business customers across Australia, excluding areas within the Australian Radio Quiet Zone in Western Australia, where restrictions apply. As long as customers have a clear line of sight to most of the sky, they will be able to connect via Starlink’s satellite network.

Optus’ partnership with Starlink and its new Satellite Internet for Business offering provides a reliable option for companies operating in rural and remote locations, ensuring they can stay connected regardless of their geographic location.

Availability and Support

Satellite Internet for Business is available now, offering businesses high-speed, low-latency broadband across the country. With Optus handling everything from installation to customer support, businesses can expect a streamlined experience. This service aims to give companies the necessary bandwidth to operate smoothly, even in the most remote areas.
