Governance platform vendor OneTrust has appointed Doug Owens as its new Chief Financial Officer, bringing in a finance executive with two decades of experience across enterprise software and private equity-backed businesses.
In the role, Owens will oversee all aspects of the company’s global financial operations as the company continues to scale its AI governance platform.
A career spanning private equity and enterprise software
Owens joins OneTrust from Vista Equity Partners, where he served as Managing Director of Business Operations. In that role, he worked with portfolio companies on operational discipline and long-term value creation.
Before Vista, Owens held the CFO position at PDI Software, where he led the company’s finance, accounting and risk management functions. He has also held finance roles at Vista Consulting Group and Radiant Systems, and served as Vice President and Divisional CFO at NCR Corporation, where he oversaw the company’s hospitality business.
A longstanding relationship
John Heyman, Chief Executive Officer of OneTrust, pointed to a personal connection with the new hire that stretches back more than two decades.
“I’ve known Doug for 25 years. He understands what execution requires and has a track record of driving organic and inorganic growth strategies,” Heyman remarked. “His expertise and perspective will be instrumental as we continue building the platform for AI-ready governance and investing in the areas that matter to our customers, our employees and our future.”
Owens frames arrival as a governance inflection point
Owens described the timing of his appointment as significant for the company’s trajectory.

He added that he intends to work closely with Heyman and the executive team to build on the company’s current position.
