Nvidia Releases DLSS 4 for GeForce RTX 50 Series

Surprisingly Useful AI Article Enhancements

Nvidia has launched DLSS 4, introducing Multi Frame Generation for GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards and laptops. The update comes alongside the release of the GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, as well as a new GeForce Game Ready Driver and Nvidia Studio driver.

DLSS 4 enhancements

The latest version of Deep Learning Super Sampling brings major upgrades, with Nvidia calling it the most significant update since DLSS 2.0 in 2020. The improvements include:

  • A revamped Ai model using transformer architecture, the same technology powering models like ChatGPT, Flux and Gemini. This enhances image quality, improves temporal stability and reduces ghosting.

  • An upgraded DLSS Frame Generation Ai model that improves performance and lowers VRAM use on RTX 50 and RTX 40 Series GPUs.

  • DLSS Multi Frame Generation, which generates up to three additional frames per traditionally rendered frame. Nvidia claims this can boost frame rates by up to eight times compared to traditional rendering, supporting 4K 240 FPS fully ray-traced gaming on the RTX 5090.

DLSS 4 is now available in over 75 games and applications, with more set to integrate the technology in upcoming updates.

Games integrating DLSS 4

Several high-profile games have added support for DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation.

Alan Wake 2

Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake 2, published by Epic Games, has received new visual refinements, higher detail levels and enhanced DLSS 4 Ai models. The game also integrates Nvidia RTX Mega Geometry and introduces an ultra-quality ray tracing preset.

Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Red has released an update for Cyberpunk 2077, upgrading its DLSS implementation to DLSS 4. According to Nvidia, the update improves performance on RTX 50 Series GPUs by an average of 9.2 times at 4K resolution with full ray tracing enabled.

Hogwarts Legacy

A new update for Hogwarts Legacy enhances the game’s ray-traced effects and adds DLSS 4 technologies. Nvidia says DLSS Multi Frame Generation, combined with DLSS Super Resolution and DLSS Ray Reconstruction, quadruples frame rates on RTX 50 Series GPUs compared to traditional rendering.

Other games

Star Wars Outlaws, Doom: The Dark Ages, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance II are also receiving DLSS 4 support. Other upcoming titles, including Black Myth: Wukong, Marvel Rivals, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Naraka: Bladepoint, are set to add DLSS Multi Frame Generation soon.

New drivers and Nvidia app update

Alongside the DLSS 4 rollout, Nvidia has released a new GeForce Game Ready Driver, adding support for:

  • DLSS 4 Ai enhancements and Multi Frame Generation

  • DLSS 4 Overrides, allowing users to upgrade over 75 games to DLSS 4

  • Nvidia Broadcast updates introducing two new Ai-powered effects

  • Support for RTX game updates, including new features like RTX Mega Geometry, RTX Hair and Neural Radiance Cache

  • Nvidia Smooth Motion, an Ai model that infers additional frames to deliver smoother gameplay on RTX 50 Series GPUs

  • Game support for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

  • 19 new G-SYNC compatible displays

The Nvidia app has also received several improvements, including:

  • DLSS 4 Overrides, enabling users to enhance games that have yet to natively support DLSS 4

  • RTX Video Super Resolution updates that improve efficiency by using up to 30 per cent fewer GPU resources

  • Advanced Optimus support for laptops, dynamically switching between the GeForce GPU and integrated graphics

Ai-powered video enhancements

Nvidia Broadcast now includes Studio Voice, an Ai feature designed to improve microphone sound quality, and Virtual Key Light, which adjusts lighting to improve video quality. These features are recommended for use on RTX 5080 GPUs or higher for video conferencing and non-gaming livestreams.

RTX Video Super Resolution has also been updated to upscale HDR content and provide a GPU utilisation feature for auto-quality settings.

With the GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 now available, users can download the new Game Ready Driver and Nvidia app updates to access these new features.
