Macquarie Telecom has signed a new agreement with Navitas, an Australian-founded global education provider, to drive cost efficiency, streamline infrastructure, and support Navitas’ continued growth in the evolving education sector.
Navitas operates over 98 campuses globally, supporting more than 56,000 students with a workforce of 5,000 employees. As the organisation prepares for its next growth phase, Navitas sought to consolidate contracts and strengthen its network resilience to stay aligned with its strategic expansion while keeping costs in check. The partnership with Macquarie Telecom, which has provided Navitas with mobile, landline, multiprotocol label switching (MPLS), SDWAN, and data centre services over the last decade, will now focus on broader technological goals.
Strategic Partnership and Tender Process
To find the best partner for this new phase, Navitas conducted a comprehensive tender process, evaluating providers like Telstra, Optus, and TPG. Macquarie Telecom was ultimately chosen due to its competitive pricing, simplified billing and reporting, and customer-focused approach, which Navitas cited as a significant time-saving factor.
Michael Schofield, Global Head of Infrastructure, Services, and Delivery at Navitas, highlighted the benefits of working with Macquarie Telecom, particularly during the recent relocation of Navitas’ headquarters to Perth’s CBD.
“Being a new building, there were challenges with the building address not yet appearing in systems used by telecom providers, combined with a short delivery timeframe and end-of-year embargo periods. Macquarie Telecom stepped up to ensure services were installed on schedule, allowing our headquarters to open on time,” said Schofield.
Schofield noted that the proactive approach from Macquarie Telecom ensured the migration to the new office proceeded smoothly, without disruption to Navitas’ operations.
Customer Service and Flexibility
The ‘seamless’ migration showcased Macquarie Telecom’s commitment to customer service. Schofield pointed out that Macquarie’s service and engagement set them apart.
“Macquarie’s customer service and engagement have always been exceptional. Their professionalism, communication, and ability to get things done make them a valued partner. They provide us with flexible solutions and are always willing to help, which is crucial for our business,” Schofield said.
Aaron Tighe, Western Australia State Manager at Macquarie Telecom, underscored the shared values between Macquarie and Navitas, particularly around supporting organisations that are often underserved. “Navitas’ success in the education sector, internationally, reflects a strong commitment to innovation and quality. At Macquarie, we share a similar drive to uplift organisations and make a meaningful impact in every partnership we establish,” Tighe said.
Consolidation for Efficiency and Growth
This partnership with Macquarie Telecom has allowed Navitas to reduce costs and improve infrastructure management by consolidating contracts. Navitas has leveraged Macquarie’s network resilience solutions to cut down on the cost and inefficiency of handling multiple vendors, enhancing network performance vital for students who rely on online education resources.
With these improvements in place, Navitas is exploring options to utilise Macquarie Telecom’s broader capabilities in cybersecurity, cloud, and Ai. “As we continue to expand globally, we rely on partners like Macquarie Telecom for network infrastructure, cyber, cloud, and automation services. Their expertise in these areas aligns with our strategic growth plan,” said Schofield.
