MSI has entered Australia’s electric vehicle (EV) market with a range of charging solutions designed to bridge the gap between growing EV adoption and the slow rollout of charging infrastructure. The company will showcase its MSI EZgo Portable Charger and MSI EV Series at Everything Electric Australia NSW from 7 to 9 March.
Addressing Australia’s EV Charging Shortfall
EV sales in Australia reached 9.65 per cent of total car sales in 2024, up from 8.45 per cent the year before, but public charging access remains a challenge. Despite the number of fast chargers doubling to over 1,800 across 1,000 locations, many drivers still rely on home charging.
MSI Australia General Manager Jerry Lu said the company’s entry into the EV sector aligns with national initiatives like the $500 million Driving the Nation Program.

“Australia’s 2050 net-zero target, combined with an open market and free-trade policies, creates an ideal environment for innovation and competition,” Lu said. “By aligning our technology with these efforts, we’re assisting Aussie drivers in seamlessly transitioning to electric vehicles in urban and remote areas.”
Portable Charging With Local Partnerships
The MSI EZgo Portable Charger, which debuted at CES in January, provides a flexible charging option for road trips. MSI has partnered with local smart socket provider NOX Energy to integrate load management, scheduling, and remote monitoring through an app.
Lu said the product was designed to help ease range anxiety while public charging infrastructure continues to develop.
“Many EV drivers still feel uncertain about charging availability, particularly when travelling long distances,” he said. “A portable charger like EZgo ensures they have reliable access to power no matter where they go.”

Built for Australian Conditions
MSI’s EV Series chargers are designed to withstand Australia’s harsh climate, with features including IP55 dust and water resistance, IK08 impact protection, and ASTM B117 salt-spray testing. The chargers operate in temperatures up to 55°C and come with a two-year warranty and local service support.
Lu said the company is focused on providing durable solutions suited to both home and commercial use.
“We want to offer a charging solution that meets the real-world needs of Aussie drivers,” he said. “That means a product that’s tough enough for the environment and reliable enough for everyday use.”
Future Developments
MSI plans to introduce a solar-ready EV charger later this year as part of its push into renewable energy. Lu said ongoing research and development would ensure the company keeps pace with Australia’s transition to cleaner transport.
“MSI’s mission is to deliver reliable, forward-looking solutions that power Australia’s green future,” he said. “By continuously refining our hardware and software, we aim to meet current EV needs and stay one step ahead as the market expands.”
