MOVA has expanded its sponsorship of the Essendon Football Club, taking on a co-major partnership of the club’s AFLW program and naming players Bonnie Toogood and Georgia Nanscawen as brand ambassadors.

The expanded deal follows MOVA’s existing major sponsorship of Essendon’s AFL program, which has Zach Merrett and Darcy Parish as ambassadors. The four players now form the brand’s ambassador team across both the AFL and AFLW programs.

The company also used an event at the club’s NEC Hangar headquarters to demonstrate the MOVA Z70 Ultra Roller robot vacuum for the first time in Australia.

Partnership Scope

MOVA was named as Essendon’s Official Home Cleaning Appliance, Outdoor Lawnmowing and Personal Care Products Partner earlier this year. The relationship has now grown to include a co-major partnership of the AFLW program for the upcoming season.

Toogood is Essendon’s inaugural AFLW Captain, a multiple AFLW All-Australian and club best and fairest winner. Nanscawen is a dual elite athlete who has represented Australia in hockey at the London 2012 Olympic Games as a member of the Hockeyroos. She won the 2024 AFLW Best and Fairest Award following her return from an ACL injury.

Nancy Zhang, MOVA Country Manager for ANZ, described the reasoning behind the partnership’s expansion.

“What attracted us to Essendon wasn’t simply the opportunity to sponsor a football club. We saw an organisation committed to high performance and leadership,” Zhang explained. “We were proud to welcome Zach Merrett and Darcy Parish as our first Australian brand ambassadors, and we’re equally pleased to welcome Bonnie Toogood and Georgia Nanscawen. Together, they represent our commitment to recognising both our AFL and AFLW partnerships equally.”

Ambassador Perspectives

Toogood pointed to the significance of the investment in women’s football.

“I’m proud to partner with a company that’s making a genuine investment in women’s football,” Toogood commented. “Seeing MOVA support our AFLW program alongside the AFL team sends a positive message about where the game is heading and shows they value elite athletes equally.”

Nanscawen noted the practical side of the relationship alongside its broader significance.

“Training, recovery and preparation don’t leave a lot of spare time, so it’s great having technology that helps around the house,” Nanscawen added. “Partnerships like this help our competition continue to grow while recognising the commitment of female athletes.”

AFLW Growth

The partnership comes as the AFLW competition continues to expand. The 18 AFL clubs now attract more than one million fans through the gates, with participation in girls’ football growing across the country.

MOVA has positioned its AFLW investment as part of its broader entry into the Australian market, where it has been building out its portfolio of home robotics and personal care products across retail channels.

MOVA Z70 Ultra Roller

Alongside the partnership announcement, MOVA demonstrated its Z70 Ultra Roller robot vacuum at the event.

The device combines continuous fresh-water roller mopping through what MOVA calls HydroForce technology with 36,000Pa suction. It includes intelligent carpet protection to avoid wetting carpeted areas, obstacle-crossing capability for thresholds and self-maintenance functions.

The Z70 is designed to address common pain points in robotic cleaning including dirty mop drag across floors, missed areas, wet carpets and difficulty navigating door thresholds between rooms.

The roller mopping system uses continuous fresh water rather than a traditional flat mop pad, which MOVA says reduces the problem of dirty water being spread across the floor during a cleaning cycle.

Pricing And Availability

The MOVA Z70 Ultra Roller in Brushed Metallic is available for $2,999 at JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys and Harvey Norman.

A Natural Stone Black variant is available for $2,999 via the MOVA Australia website.
