Motorola has launched its first book-style foldable smartphone in Australia, with the Razr Fold headlining a lineup that also takes in the Razr 70 Ultra flip phone and Swarovski crystal editions of the Motorola Signature and Moto Buds 2 Plus.
The Razr Fold is the first book-style folding handset from the Lenovo-owned manufacturer, which has until now concentrated its foldable efforts on the clamshell Razr range.
Head of Motorola ANZ Praveena Raman described the launch as “a landmark moment for Motorola in Australia”.
“We are fulfilling a growing consumer need for a device that goes beyond communication and truly keeps pace with every part of modern life,” Raman said.
“Beyond being our first book-style foldable smartphone, it’s a device that genuinely adapts to how people live, work and create, setting a new standard for what a foldable can do.”
Dual displays and a periscope camera
The Razr Fold pairs a 6.6-inch external display with an 8.1-inch 2K LTPO internal screen that opens out for multitasking, content creation and entertainment, with audio delivered through Sound by Bose technology.
The rear camera system is built around a 50MP Sony LYTIA 828 main sensor with Pantone Validated colour, joined by a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with up to 100x Super Zoom Pro and a 50MP ultrawide lens with Macro Vision for close-up work.
Video recording runs to 8K with Dolby Vision support, while a 32MP internal selfie camera and a 20MP external selfie camera cover both displays.
The camera system received the Gold Label from imaging benchmark DXOMARK and ranked first among the foldables tested by the firm.
A 6,000mAh battery paired with 80W TurboPower charging is rated by Motorola for more than 43 hours of use per charge.
The handset is built around a stainless steel hinge and uses Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, which Motorola’s internal testing put at 75 per cent better drop performance than first-generation Gorilla Glass Ceramic.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 platform powers the device, which offers a choice of Google Gemini, moto AI and Perplexity AI assistants and works with the separately sold Moto Pen Ultra stylus for note-taking, sketching and annotation on the internal display.
Motorola has committed to up to seven Android OS upgrades and up to seven years of security updates for the handset.
The Razr 70 Ultra

The Razr 70 Ultra runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite platform, combining the third-generation Oryon CPU with the Adreno GPU.
“With the Razr 70 Ultra, we continue to push the boundaries of what a flip phone can be, delivering flagship performance in a refined, compact form,” Raman added.

The flip phone carries a triple 50MP camera system and is the first flip phone to feature a LOFIC sensor, which Motorola’s labs measured at up to six times the dynamic range of the Razr 60 Ultra it follows.
A 50MP ultrawide lens with Macro Vision and a 50MP internal selfie camera round out the setup, while a Flex View position lets the half-open handset double as a tripod for hands-free shooting.
AI-driven camera features include Camcorder Rotate to Zoom, Signature Style and Group Shot, which can recognise up to 10 faces in a single frame.
A silicon-carbon 5,000mAh battery with 68W TurboPower charging is rated for more than 36 hours of use, with Motorola claiming a full day of power from around eight minutes of charging.
A 4-inch external display provides full app access, live notifications and interactions without opening the device.
The handset features a titanium-reinforced hinge and Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic on the external display, which survived at least 10 one-metre drops onto asphalt-like surfaces in Corning’s lab testing, and comes in Pantone Orient Blue with an embossed Alcantara texture.
Swarovski crystal editions

The Motorola Signature and Moto Buds 2 Plus join the company’s Brilliant Collection in Pantone Violet Indigo, both finished with Swarovski crystals.
The Motorola Signature carries its crystals in a 3D-quilted pattern, while the Moto Buds 2 Plus pair the same treatment with Sound by Bose audio.
“We’re also expanding our commitment to premium craftsmanship with our Brilliant Collection series, introducing editions of the Motorola Signature and Moto Buds 2 Plus with crystals by Swarovski, reinforcing our belief that technology should do more than just perform; it should be a tool of self-expression,” Raman continued.
