Surprisingly Useful AI Article Enhancements
MongoDB has announced new product capabilities and an expanded partner ecosystem aimed at making it easier for organisations to build accurate and reliable Ai applications at scale.
The company revealed the updates at Ai4, introducing the latest Voyage Ai embedding and reranking models, new interoperability with Ai frameworks and orchestration tools, and broader integration with partner platforms.
Addressing Barriers To Ai Adoption
MongoDB said many enterprises remain in a “messy middle” stage of Ai adoption, where some benefits are seen but not enough to drive widespread rollout.
Citing Gartner research, the company said 68 per cent of IT leaders reported difficulty keeping pace with the rapid release of generative Ai tools, while 37 per cent said their enterprise Ai strategy was driven primarily by application vendors.
Barriers identified include complexity of the Ai stack, challenges in achieving accuracy for mission-critical applications, and concerns about cost at scale.
Andrew Davidson, Senior Vice President of Products at MongoDB, said databases now play a critical role in enabling modern Ai systems.
“Modern Ai applications require a database that combines advanced capabilities like integrated vector search and best-in-class Ai models to unlock meaningful insights from all forms of data, while streamlining the stack,” Davidson said.
“These systems also demand scalability, security and flexibility to support production applications as they evolve and as usage grows. By consolidating the Ai data stack and building an Ai ecosystem, we are giving developers the tools they need to build and deploy trustworthy Ai solutions more quickly.”
New Voyage Ai Models
The new Voyage-context-3 embedding model captures full document context without relying on metadata hacks or summaries, aiming to improve retrieval relevance and reduce chunk-size sensitivity in retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) applications.
Two general-purpose models, voyage-3.5 and voyage-3.5-lite, have been released with improved retrieval accuracy and price-performance.
New reranking models, rerank-2.5 and rerank-2.5-lite, allow developers to provide instructions to guide the reranking process, aiming to boost retrieval accuracy across different benchmarks.
Fred Roma, Senior Vice President of Engineering at MongoDB, said the quality of these models is key to moving Ai prototypes into production.
“The quality of your embedding and reranking models is often the difference between a promising prototype and an Ai application that delivers meaningful results in production,” Roma said.
“That’s why we’ve focused on building models that perform better, cost less, and are easier to use—so developers can bring their Ai applications into the real world and scale adoption.”
MongoDB MCP Server
MongoDB has also released the MongoDB Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server in public preview, providing a standard way to connect MongoDB deployments to tools such as GitHub Copilot, Anthropic’s Claude, Cursor and Windsurf.

This allows developers to use natural language to query and manage data directly from popular development environments. MongoDB said this integration can help accelerate Ai-powered application development and improve productivity.
The MCP Server has attracted thousands of weekly users since launch, with interest from large enterprises looking to incorporate it into their agentic application stacks.
Partner Ecosystem Expansion
The MongoDB Ai partner ecosystem now includes:
- Galileo: Adds evaluation and observability capabilities to Ai applications, enabling continuous monitoring and reliability improvements.
- Temporal: Provides durable execution for Ai applications, allowing long-running, resilient workflows without custom reliability code.
- LangChain: Integrates capabilities such as GraphRAG for transparent retrieval processes and natural language querying on MongoDB.
Vikram Chatterji, CEO and Co-founder of Galileo, said the partnership will help organisations deploy Ai applications with greater trust.
“By formally joining MongoDB’s Ai ecosystem, MongoDB and Galileo will now be able to better enable customers to deploy trustworthy Ai applications that transform their businesses with less friction,” Chatterji said.
Maxim Fateev, CTO at Temporal, said the integration helps developers overcome scale and reliability challenges.
“Through our partnership with MongoDB, Temporal empowers developers to orchestrate durable, horizontally scalable Ai systems with confidence,” Fateev said.
LangChain CEO and Co-founder, Harrison Chase, said access to relevant data is key for advanced agentic Ai.
“Our integrations with MongoDB equip developers with the tools they need to build and deploy complex, future-proofed agentic Ai applications grounded in relevant, trustworthy data,” Chase said.
Growing Developer Base
MongoDB said approximately 8,000 startups have chosen its platform for Ai projects in the past 18 months, including Laurel and Mercor. More than 200,000 new developers sign up to MongoDB Atlas each month. Enterprise adopters include Vonage, LGU+ and The Financial Times.
