Logitech G is highlighting the journey of Australian driver Ethan Grigg-Gault, who has moved from virtual racing platforms to success on the track, demonstrating the growing connection between eSports and motorsport.

From Sim Racing To The Track

Grigg-Gault began racing from his bedroom using a MOMO wheel before upgrading to a Logitech G27. What began as a hobby developed into competitive esports, where he became a five-time Official V8 Supercar Series Champion on iRacing and a member of the Logitech G Evolution Racing Team.

His performance in online racing set the stage for a transition into real-world motorsport. Building his own car, Grigg-Gault began competing in the Hyundai Excel category, a grassroots racing class that has become a proving ground for young drivers.

According to Grigg-Gault, the skills he developed in sim racing carried over directly to the track.

“Sim racing taught me everything I know before stepping into a real car,” he said.

Championship Success

Grigg-Gault’s career has already produced a string of achievements:

  • 2022 – Runner-up in the Victorian Hyundai Excel Championship and winner of the Circuit Excel Racing Association Nationals

  • 2023 – Successfully defended his Excel Nationals title at Wanneroo Raceway

  • 2025 – Winner of the 24/7 Roadservices Circuit Excel Bathurst Challenge at Mount Panorama

There was no national event in 2024, but Grigg-Gault has now secured three consecutive national titles.

Logitech G’s Perspective

Daniel Hall, Senior Category Manager at Logitech G ANZ, said Grigg-Gault’s success underlines the role of simulation technology in driver development.

“Ethan embodies everything Logitech G stands for – innovation, passion and performance,” Hall said. “His story proves that sim racing isn’t just preparation, it’s an opportunity.”

Hall said Logitech G sees simulation hardware as a pathway for the next generation of motorsport talent, allowing aspiring drivers to build skills without the initial costs of racing on a track.

Bridging Esports And Motorsport

Logitech G said Grigg-Gault’s achievements reflect its belief that high-performance simulation tools can support both competitive gaming and real-world racing.

For Grigg-Gault, the pathway from esports to professional motorsport is still developing, but his results highlight the potential for sim racing to be more than a training tool.

From online grids to podium finishes at national events, Grigg-Gault’s progress is positioning him as a driver to watch, and a case study in how technology is reshaping motorsport pathways.
