Logitech has brought its Alto Keys K98M mechanical keyboard to Australia, positioning the device as, ‘Part of a broader shift toward more tactile and expressive desk setups.’
The product landed in local stores after earlier launches in China and several other markets drew strong interest. Demand reflected the wider rise of mechanical keyboards across the region, where the category has moved from niche gear for enthusiasts to a common fixture in mainstream workspaces.
Market Growth Reports has linked this change to evolving consumer expectations. The research points to a 61 per cent lift in global demand over the past two years. The same analysis projects the market will expand from US$3 billion in 2024 to US$6 billion by 2033.
The company has observed a similar trend in Australia. Alto Keys K98M went on sale locally in November and drew attention from users who wanted a compact layout without losing a number pad or core function keys. The model includes a proprietary UniCushion gasket design that softens vibrations, along with hot-swappable Marble Switches designed to deliver a distinct sound and feel.
Users can customise the board’s acoustics and key response, giving the device a feel that changes as their typing preferences evolve. Its translucent frame and lighting aim to create a more personalised workspace, with Ai tools available through the Logi Options+ app.
“People want their workspace to be more than functional, they want it to inspire them,” General Manager of Core Products Group Art O’Gnimh said. “With Alto Keys K98M, we set out to create a mechanical keyboard that feels personal and expressive, not just practical. From the sound and feel of each keystroke to the ability to swap keys and make it your own, Alto Keys brings creativity and focus back to the desk.”
He framed the device as part of a shift toward gear that users want to spend time with, rather than tools they tolerate through the workday.
