Lenovo has unveiled a suite of Ai-powered tools aimed at reducing store downtime, improving frontline operations and supporting retail teams in real time. The announcements, made at NRF 2026 in New York, include Smart Store Services and Ai Retail Assistants, both backed by Lenovo’s Hybrid Ai Services.

The launch is targeted at physical and digital retailers facing growing complexity in store systems and customer expectations, and reflects broader moves across the retail sector to translate Ai pilots into consistent operational benefits.

Ai Designed To Prevent Lost Revenue

Lenovo said its Smart Store Services are designed to keep stores running by identifying and resolving common issues before they impact customers or frontline workers.

Retailers typically lose revenue when stores go offline or when systems such as payment or point-of-sale (POS) terminals fail. According to Lenovo, the Smart Store Services platform can detect and fix problems automatically, resolve incidents up to 60 per cent faster and reduce downtime by up to 50 per cent based on internal data.

“Retail leaders don’t invest in Ai for experimentation, they invest to keep stores running, protect revenue and serve customers better,” said Patricia Wilkey, Senior Vice President and General Manager of International Sales for Lenovo’s Solutions and Services Group.

“These solutions are designed to deliver value immediately by embedding Ai into everyday retail operations and scaling it reliably across the enterprise.”

The platform offers real-time visibility across store systems, automated issue prioritisation and a central command centre linking IT, operations and store support teams.

Lenovo said this setup enables more than 30 per cent reductions in IT support costs across large store networks and allows most problems to be resolved remotely.

Reducing Complexity For Frontline Teams

Beyond back-end visibility, Smart Store Services also include frontline tools for staff, delivered through a unified app that allows associates to troubleshoot issues directly on the shop floor.

The guided experience is designed to reduce the time store managers spend resolving problems and let frontline staff focus on serving customers.

Lenovo claims the system halves the number of cases requiring manager escalation.

The solution learns continuously from live store environments and applies those lessons to automate similar incidents across locations.

By embedding Ai in this way, Lenovo said retailers can move from isolated pilots to standardised, repeatable deployments.

Turning In-Store Queries Into Conversions

Lenovo’s Ai Retail Assistants aim to help customers navigate products, promotions and availability while easing the pressure on sales staff during busy periods.

The in-store Lenovo Retail Floor Assistant provides product and service support via an intelligent interface, acting as a digital support layer during peak periods or staff shortages.

The Lenovo Online Shopping Assistant takes a multimodal approach, allowing customers to compare, search and complete transactions without clicking through multiple pages. Lenovo said it uses agentic reasoning to perform actions like adding to cart or recommending similar items.

These assistants pull live product and inventory data to ground their responses, with the goal of giving customers more accurate recommendations and reducing abandonment at checkout.

Scaling Beyond Pilots With Hybrid Ai

Lenovo acknowledged that while many retailers are exploring Ai, scaling pilots across large store footprints remains a hurdle.

Its Hybrid Ai Services are designed to address this issue, providing deployment, monitoring and operational frameworks that allow for consistent performance across edge and cloud environments.

The approach is backed by Lenovo’s own Ai governance and automation platform and runs across Nvidia-supported infrastructure.

Shiseido, a global beauty brand, is among the companies deploying Lenovo’s Ai tools across multiple Asia-Pacific markets. Lenovo said Shiseido reported improved device reliability and smoother customer experiences after the rollout.
