Lenovo has been announced as the Official FIFA Technology Partner in a deal that includes the FIFA World Cup 2026 in North America and the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 in Brazil. The partnership was revealed at Lenovo’s Tech World innovation event, which highlighted the company’s role in providing technology for both tournaments.

The collaboration between Lenovo and FIFA will focus on enhancing fan experiences and improving global broadcasts through technology. This includes Ai innovations, devices, and data centre infrastructure.

Leveraging Technology to Grow the Game

Lenovo’s range of products and services, including ThinkPad laptops, tablets, Motorola mobile phones, and servers, will play a significant role in both tournaments. These technologies aim to enhance fan experiences in stadiums, improve analytics, and make football more accessible on a global scale. The integration of Ai is expected to power key aspects of the tournaments, helping to democratise data across football-playing nations.

Lenovo Chairman and CEO Yuanqing Yang expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We’re delighted to partner with the world’s most global and popular sport. Lenovo will be powering the largest sporting and entertainment events in human history, events with unprecedented global demand for data processing and technology.”

Yang added, “Our cutting-edge technology and Ai innovation will take centre stage in the upcoming tournaments, demonstrating to the world the transformative power of smarter technology.”

FIFA’s Commitment to Innovation

FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasised the organisation’s commitment to growing football globally, with technology playing a central role. “At FIFA, we are committed to growing the game and making football accessible for all. We are excited to welcome Lenovo and work with them to implement technologies that spread our sport,” Infantino said.

He also noted the importance of data in improving fan engagement. “Data and technology combined help us understand fans better, and we will use it to create unforgettable experiences at the FIFA World Cup 2026 and FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027.”

The partnership represents the first time Lenovo has worked with FIFA, though the company has a long history of providing technology for major sporting events. Lenovo’s involvement in these tournaments continues its legacy of supporting global sports with innovative technology solutions.

FIFA World Cup 2026 and FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027

The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be the first time the tournament is hosted by three countries — Canada, Mexico, and the United States. It will also feature 48 teams, expanding from the traditional 32. This marks the first time Canada will host the men’s tournament, though the country has previously hosted the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2015.

The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027, set to take place in Brazil, will see 32 teams competing, continuing the format introduced in Australia and New Zealand in 2023. This will be the first time the tournament is held in South America, a significant milestone for women’s football.

Lenovo’s partnership with FIFA underscores the growing role of technology in sports and its ability to enhance both player performance and fan engagement. The collaboration is expected to drive new innovations that will shape the future of football across the globe.
