Surprisingly Useful AI Article Enhancements
Lenovo has introduced two new Chromebooks to the Australia and New Zealand markets, expanding its range with the Lenovo Chromebook Duet (11″, 9) and Lenovo Chromebook Duet EDU G2. These new 10.95-inch convertible laptops aim to balance performance and design, making them suitable for work, learning, and leisure activities.
The new Chromebooks are powered by the MediaTek Kompanio 838 processor, which includes an Ai-enabled neural processing unit (NPU). According to Lenovo, this processor offers up to 12 hours of battery life and is designed to support a wide range of tasks, from creative endeavours to productivity and entertainment.
Benny Zhang, Executive Director and General Manager of Chromebooks in Lenovo’s Intelligent Devices Group, said, “Modern society is constantly on the move, challenging traditional notions of productivity and leisure. The Lenovo Chromebook Duet and Chromebook Duet EDU G2 are versatile companions for work, play, and learning, powered by the MediaTek Kompanio 838 processor with an Ai-enabled NPU.”
Features and Durability
Both the Lenovo Chromebook Duet (11″, 9) and the Duet EDU G2 are built for durability. The Duet (11″, 9) is encased in a full metal chassis with Corning Gorilla Glass, making it sturdy enough for everyday use. The EDU G2 model is designed for educational settings, adding a rugged case and detachable keyboard to withstand the wear and tear of classroom environments.
For those looking for flexibility, the Chromebook Duet (11″, 9) comes with a built-in kickstand that allows it to be used in various modes, including laptop and portrait mode. This adaptability makes it useful for reading, sketching, browsing, or multitasking.
Lenovo has also included its USI Pen 2, which is neatly stored in the kickstand. The pen allows users to sketch, take notes, or sign documents, adding to the versatility of the device. According to Lenovo, the Chromebook Duet (11″, 9) weighs less than 1.2 lbs and is only 0.3 inches thick, making it lighter and thinner than most books. It features a 2K 400-nit display that is bright enough for outdoor use and offers up to 12 hours of battery life.
Enhanced Productivity and Creativity
The Lenovo Chromebook Duet (11″, 9) is equipped with dual USB-C ports, allowing users to connect to a 4K display, and it supports a wide range of accessories. The device is powered by the MediaTek Kompanio 838 processor, which offers Ai-enabled features like improved palm rejection and enhanced camera clarity for video calls or photography.
The Chromebook also comes with an 8MP rear camera, which is enhanced by MediaTek’s image processing technology, and a 5MP front camera with a physical shutter for privacy. The device’s dual speakers and SmartAMP with Wave Audio are designed to deliver clear sound for entertainment or online meetings.
Education-Focused Features
The Lenovo Chromebook Duet EDU G2 is designed for educational use, offering the same productivity and creativity features as the Duet (11″, 9) but with added durability. It includes a TPU case with a keyboard, reinforced ports, and protection against accidental spills of up to 360ml. TPU, or Thermoplastic Polyurethane, is known for being lightweight yet strong, making the device robust enough to withstand drops and other impacts.
For educators, the Chromebook Duet EDU G2 includes the Chrome Education Upgrade, which allows schools to manage hundreds of Chromebooks from a single cloud-based console. This feature simplifies device deployment, customisation, and security settings for educational environments.
Pricing and Availability
Both Chromebooks are ENERGY STAR certified and EPEAT Gold registered. The Lenovo Chromebook Duet (11″, 9) will be available in Australia and New Zealand starting in October 2024, with prices starting at $599 AUD and $699 NZD. The Chromebook Duet EDU G2 is also set to be available, with pricing information provided through Lenovo sales representatives.
These new additions to Lenovo’s Chromebook lineup offer a combination of flexibility, durability, and performance, aimed at both general consumers and educational institutions across Australia and New Zealand.
