Lenovo has introduced Premier Support Plus for Servers, a support tier that uses AI-driven monitoring and predictive analytics to identify and resolve infrastructure issues before they cause downtime.
The service is designed for Lenovo’s ThinkSystem and ThinkAgile server lines and is available across more than 75 markets globally. It sits above the existing Lenovo Premier Support tier as the company’s top-level server support offering.
Shifting from reactive to proactive support
The core pitch behind Premier Support Plus is a move away from traditional break-fix support models toward proactive system monitoring and intervention.
The service uses AI-driven monitoring and Call Home automation to detect potential issues early and automatically initiate support cases and parts dispatch without waiting for a customer to lodge a ticket. Lenovo describes this as shifting the burden of monitoring, maintenance and escalation away from internal IT teams.
John Stamer, Vice President and General Manager of Global Product and Sustainability Services at Lenovo, outlined the rationale behind the new tier.
“With Premier Support Plus for Servers, Lenovo is helping customers stay ahead of potential infrastructure issues before they affect the business,” Stamer explained. “By combining predictive intelligence, expert oversight and rapid response, we’re enabling organisations to protect uptime, reduce risk and focus on innovation.”
What the service includes
Beyond the AI-driven monitoring, Premier Support Plus bundles several capabilities into a single support package.
Customers receive 24/7 access to Lenovo technical experts with a four-hour onsite response target for critical issues. Each customer is assigned a designated Lenovo Service Engagement Manager who handles onboarding, ongoing reporting and regular service reviews, acting as a single point of accountability.
Preventative maintenance is delivered through wellness dashboards, firmware health checks and expert guidance aimed at extending system reliability over time.
The service also includes Keep Your Drive, which allows customers to retain failed drives rather than returning them to Lenovo. This is aimed at organisations with data sovereignty, security or compliance requirements that prevent hardware containing sensitive data from leaving their premises.
For environments where even the four-hour response window is insufficient, Lenovo offers Committed Service Repair as an optional add-on. This provides a six-hour onsite repair commitment for situations where downtime carries the highest operational cost.
Analyst perspective
Rob Brothers, Vice President of Services at IDC, noted that enterprise buyers are increasingly weighing support and services alongside hardware specifications when making purchasing decisions.
“Customers are placing as much, if not more, emphasis on services capabilities as on product features when evaluating vendors,” Brothers commented. “It’s not just the product, but the experience surrounding it that helps customers choose the right vendor for their needs.”
Brothers added that the launch of Premier Support Plus expands Lenovo’s services portfolio in a way that is designed to improve the overall server ownership experience.
Part of a broader services push
Premier Support Plus for Servers sits within Lenovo’s wider Lifecycle Services portfolio, which covers planning, deployment, management, optimisation and evolution of IT infrastructure.

The launch reflects a broader trend among server vendors to differentiate on services and support rather than hardware alone, as enterprise IT environments grow in complexity and internal teams face resource constraints.
