Australian consumer electronics brand, Laser, has released a 15.6-inch digital calendar with a touchscreen aimed at household organisation, priced at $230 and carrying no ongoing subscription fees.
The device is available through Big W, Amazon and Laser’s website.
Laser is positioning the product as a lower-cost alternative to competing digital calendar products that typically require monthly subscriptions on top of the hardware cost.
What The Device Does
The Laser Digital Calendar is a Full HD touchscreen designed to serve as a central hub for household scheduling, chores, shared lists, meal planning, reminders, weather and family photos.
Powered by the Whale Framely platform, the device can sync Google, Outlook and Apple iCloud calendars into one display. Family members can update schedules, check reminders and edit shared lists remotely through a companion mobile app.
The calendar supports colour coding for individual family members, customised views across day, week, month and schedule formats, and the ability to connect multiple calendars across separate rooms or households.
Managing Director of Laser, Chris Lau, framed the product as a response to the demands on busy households.
“With our new Digital Calendar, we are delivering an all-in-one organisational hub that brings households together, tracking everything from footy practice to dinner plans,” Lau explained.
“Families are looking for ways to streamline their busy daily lives, but we also believe that the last thing they need is another monthly bill to worry about. Unlike other alternatives on the market, the Laser Digital Calendar does not require an ongoing subscription, it’s a one-off purchase for family communication.”
Features Aimed At Families With Children
The device includes a tasks manager with a star-based rewards system designed to encourage children to complete chores, homework and other responsibilities. Parents can set up interactive daily checklists covering tasks such as packing school bags, feeding pets or getting ready for activities.
A meal planning feature allows families to map out breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for the week, with the menu displayed on screen. The calendar also supports shared grocery lists, school supply lists and other custom lists that all family members can access through the app.
Other features include local weather forecasting tied to the device’s location, a sleep mode that automatically turns the screen on and off at scheduled times, an HD photo screensaver mode and automatic software updates.
No Subscription Model
Laser has emphasised the absence of ongoing fees as a key differentiator. The company notes that some competing products require monthly subscriptions on top of the initial hardware purchase.
The full feature set, including custom lists, phone syncing and the Whale Framely app, is accessible without a paid subscription.
The Laser 15.6-inch Digital Calendar with Touch Screen is available now at Big W, Amazon and through Laser’s website.
