Global healthcare technology company Lanas has appointed Rob Hutcheson as Chief Corporate Development Officer, tasked with leading the company’s acquisition strategy as it expands its healthcare technology offering across Australia, New Zealand and international markets.
Hutcheson is based in Brisbane and brings more than two decades of experience in mergers and acquisitions and growth strategy, including 15 years working with healthcare technology businesses through periods of growth, acquisition and transformation at PwC and Civica.
Growing Digital Health Market
The appointment comes as Australia’s healthcare technology sector enters a period of growth, driven by increasing demand for digital healthcare, connected systems and AI-enabled solutions.
Industry forecasts project Australia’s digital health market will grow to more than US$31 billion (approximately AU$44 billion) by 2034, according to IMARC Group.
In his new role, Hutcheson will lead Lanas’ corporate development strategy and M&A team to identify and acquire complementary healthcare technologies as the company continues to expand across healthcare markets.
Existing Platform Reach
Across Australia and New Zealand, Lanas’ products support healthcare organisations across community pharmacy, aged care, clinical messaging and health information exchange.
HealthLink connects more than 15,000 medical organisations, facilitating over 100 million clinical messages each year. Toniq PMR is used by more than 950 community pharmacies across New Zealand, while Toniq 1Chart supports over 3.4 million medicine administrations each month across more than 10,000 aged care beds. Through Konnect NET, average health information request turnaround times have been reduced from three weeks to three days.
Investment In Healthcare Technologies
Howard Beggs, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Lanas, described the appointment as reflecting the company’s continued commitment to investing in technologies that support the future of healthcare.
“Australia’s health technology sector is entering an exciting period of growth and investment,” Beggs commented. “We see significant opportunities to identify and acquire technologies that strengthen our capabilities and support the evolving needs of our customers and other healthcare providers.”
“Rob brings deep healthcare technology and M&A experience, alongside a strong understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the sector. He’ll play an important role as we continue to strengthen our offering and create greater value for customers.”
Beggs added that the company remains focused on innovation that addresses practical problems for healthcare organisations and the people they serve.
Market Opportunity
Hutcheson pointed to the scale of the opportunity in Australia’s healthcare technology sector as a drawcard.
“Australia has become one of the most exciting healthcare technology markets globally,” Hutcheson noted. “The sector is benefiting from strong clinical innovation, increasing digital adoption and growing demand for connected healthcare, with forecasts suggesting the market could more than triple in size over the next decade.”
“The opportunity to build on the scale and reach of the technologies already within Lanas was a major draw for me,” he added. “There is enormous potential to continue investing in innovation that helps healthcare organisations work more effectively and deliver better experiences for patients.”
Backed By TA Associates
Lanas launched in November 2025, backed by TA Associates, a global private equity firm, with a committed M&A funding package of approximately AU$160 million.
