Surprisingly Useful AI Article Enhancements
Kyndryl has introduced a new policy-as-code capability designed to support trusted deployment of agentic AI across regulated enterprise environments, targeting sectors such as finance, government, and supply chains.
The update aims to make agent-driven automation more transparent, explainable, and compliant, by embedding organisational policies directly into machine-executable code.
Embedding Governance Into Agentic AI
Unveiled on February 13, the new offering enables customers to define regulatory rules, compliance requirements, and business controls as machine-readable policy logic. This governs how AI agents operate in production systems, reducing the risk of unauthorised actions and improving operational auditability.
Kyndryl said the move is part of its Agentic AI Framework, built to help enterprises scale AI-native workflows without compromising governance or transparency.
“Kyndryl’s policy as code capability overcomes limitations of conventional AI agent controls and provides the structure customers need as they adopt agentic AI solutions,” said Ismail Amla, Senior Vice President, Kyndryl Consult.
“By embedding and codifying business and regulatory requirements directly into AI agent operations, we can help customers execute AI workflow that is governed, transparent, explainable, and aligned with their organisational requirements.”
Addressing Compliance Barriers
Kyndryl cited research showing that 31 per cent of enterprise customers view regulatory and compliance concerns as key barriers to adopting newer technologies such as agentic AI. The policy-as-code solution is positioned as a response to this concern, offering a set of controls that allow AI workflows to operate within defined and verifiable boundaries.
Kyndryl’s policy enforcement layer works dynamically, governing how agents execute tasks and make decisions across interconnected systems. The company manages nearly 190 million automations per month and said this operational foundation is being used to inform more reliable policy implementation for AI agents.
Key Features Of Policy-As-Code
The new solution includes a range of built-in enforcement capabilities:
• Deterministic execution – Agents are limited to actions explicitly permitted by policy, lowering the risk of unintended behaviours.
• Eliminates hallucination impact – Policy guardrails block unpredictable or unauthorised agent actions before they affect operational systems.
• Audit-by-design transparency – Every agent decision is logged and traceable, allowing for compliance reviews and oversight.
• Human supervision – Agent tasks are executed under defined policy and can be monitored through an operational dashboard to maintain consistency and accountability.
Kyndryl said this approach enables enterprises to apply agentic AI in high-stakes environments where regulatory certainty and business continuity are required.
Supporting Mission-Critical Workflows
The policy-as-code feature is intended to make agentic automation viable for use in core enterprise functions such as public services, financial operations, and supply chain management. Kyndryl said the solution supports the safe and structured deployment of autonomous agents in industries with low tolerance for error or unpredictability.
