AI-Powered Switches Enhance Security, Efficiency And Wi-Fi 7 Readiness

Juniper Networks has introduced the EX4000 Series Switches, expanding its Ai-native networking portfolio with enhanced security, automation and performance.

The new switches integrate with Mist Ai to improve uptime, support Zero Trust security and enable seamless migration to Wi-Fi 7. They are designed for enterprise environments, including stores, clinics, campuses and branch offices.

Brandon Butler, Senior Research Manager at IDC, said the new series enhances Juniper’s existing offerings. “By pairing this access-layer switch with Wi-Fi 7 advancements, the EX4000 supports seamless integration across Juniper’s wired and wireless solutions. Its Zero Trust capabilities also reinforce security without adding complexity.”

Enhancing Automation And Operational Efficiency

The EX4000 Series supports Zero-Touch Provisioning (ZTP) for hands-free configuration. IT teams can use the Mist Ai mobile app to scan QR codes for fast setup, reducing deployment errors and saving time.

Juniper’s Mist Ai portfolio extends its capabilities to the EX4000, featuring:

  • Marvis Virtual Network Assistant – Provides conversational AI support, self-driving operations and proactive issue resolution.

  • Dynamic Packet Capture (dPCAP) – Speeds up troubleshooting for wired and wireless problems, reducing the need for on-site support.

  • Automated Workflows – Customisable service levels ensure faster problem detection and resolution.

Ben Shapiro, Senior Network Engineer at Eugene School District 4J, said the new switches support digital learning environments. “By integrating Juniper EX Switches, Mist Wired Assurance and Marvis, we’ve improved performance and operational efficiency. The EX4000 allows us to expand Ai-native switching across the district.”

Performance And Sustainability Features

The EX4000 Series features Perpetual Power over Ethernet (PPoE) across all ports, supporting uninterrupted connectivity for Wi-Fi 7 access points, IoT devices and other critical systems. It also has rapid boot times for quicker recovery from outages.

Energy efficiency is a focus, with features such as intelligent fan speed adjustments and automatic PoE deactivation on unused ports. These capabilities help organisations optimise energy consumption while maintaining performance.

Sanjoy Dey, Vice President of Product Management at Juniper Networks, said the switches are designed to meet evolving connectivity needs. “The EX4000 Series is more than just a switch—it’s a foundation for organisations managing digital transformation. It enhances agility, resiliency and security while simplifying network operations.”

Supporting Wi-Fi 7 And Future Expansion

The EX4000 Series offers multiple configurations, including 12-, 24- and 48-port multigigabit options, with support for 802.3bt PoE++ (up to 60W). The virtual chassis design avoids costly rewiring as networks scale.

When paired with Juniper’s AP47 High-Performance Access Points and Mist Ai, the switches allow customers to fully leverage Wi-Fi 7 while maintaining cost-effective network expansion.

Juniper AI Advanced Care Professional Services are available to support design, deployment and migration from other vendor solutions.
