Surprisingly Useful AI Article Enhancements
IT consulting and services firm, Infosys, has signed a long-term collaboration with braking systems and safety-critical components manufacturer, Knorr-Bremse, to deliver managed services across the company’s enterprise application landscape.
The deal sits under Knorr-Bremse’s Tech4Value (T4V) IT transformation program and spans both its Rail and Commercial Vehicle divisions. Infosys will take on end-to-end managed services across the full enterprise application ecosystem, covering everything from core ERP and data platforms to engineering and product lifecycle systems.
The work is intended to simplify and modernise Knorr-Bremse’s IT environment, improve service quality for its global workforce and push the manufacturer toward what it describes as a value-driven IT operating model.
Beyond the technology refresh, the scope includes strengthening operational resilience, compliance and service governance. The collaboration is also expected to support faster innovation cycles, improve engineering collaboration and employee experience, and underpin the scalable growth of both of Knorr-Bremse’s business divisions.
AI-led automation at the centre
Infosys will pair its SAP, data, engineering and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) capabilities with AI tools powered by Infosys Topaz, using generative and agentic AI technologies to take Knorr-Bremse past the boundaries of traditional managed services.
The two companies intend to focus on measurable outcomes and sustained productivity gains delivered through AI-led automation rather than conventional service management.
Chief Digital Officer and VP Transformation and Governance IT at Knorr-Bremse, Satheeskaran Navaratnam, described the Tech4Value program as central to how the manufacturer is building its technology foundation.
“At Knorr-Bremse, we are building a future-ready technology foundation that supports innovation and long-term value creation,” Navaratnam explained.
“Our Tech4Value program is central to this journey, helping us create a more agile, efficient and scalable IT environment across the organisation. By working with Infosys, we aim to make our technology estate as optimised and reliable as the systems we build for our customers, ensuring that every layer of our infrastructure is equipped to support the pace of change our business demands.”
Safety-critical industries and the application stack
The deal reflects the particular demands placed on enterprise applications in industries where system reliability is a safety requirement. Knorr-Bremse manufactures braking systems and components used in rail and commercial vehicles, where downtime or inconsistency in supporting IT systems can carry operational consequences.
EVP and Global Head of Manufacturing at Infosys, Jasmeet Singh, framed the engagement around those requirements.
“For global manufacturers operating in safety-critical industries, resilient, efficient and high-performing enterprise applications are essential to maintaining business continuity and competitiveness,” Singh noted.
“Infosys will help Knorr-Bremse enhance its application landscape through a combination of deep manufacturing expertise, advanced automation and AI-enabled service delivery. By improving operational efficiency, accelerating issue resolution and supporting continuous modernisation, we aim to help Knorr-Bremse drive greater business value and maintain the reliability and agility needed in a rapidly evolving market.”
What the transformation covers
The scope of the engagement runs across the full enterprise application stack. That includes SAP environments underpinning core business processes, data platforms feeding analytics and decision-making, and engineering systems including PLM tools that support product development and lifecycle management.
Managed services across that breadth mean Infosys is responsible not just for keeping systems running but for modernising them progressively over time. The shift from conventional outsourcing to AI-led service delivery is intended to drive down manual effort and accelerate resolution times.

Generative AI enters the picture through Infosys Topaz, the firm’s AI platform, which is being applied to automate tasks within the managed services wrapper. Agentic AI, the more autonomous end of the spectrum where AI systems can take actions rather than just generate content, is also part of the technology mix, though the release does not detail specific agentic use cases.
Context for the deal
Knorr-Bremse operates globally and supplies systems to rail operators and commercial vehicle manufacturers. The company’s IT environment reflects that footprint, with application estates that have grown in complexity across both divisions over time.
The Tech4Value program represents the manufacturer’s effort to rationalise that landscape and shift from a cost-centre view of IT toward one focused on measurable business value.
For Infosys, the engagement adds another enterprise manufacturing client to a practice that has been pushing AI-enabled service delivery as a differentiator in managed services contracts. The firm employs more than 325,000 people and operates in 59 countries.
