Surprisingly Useful AI Article Enhancements
Integral Ad Science (IAS) has extended its AI-driven Total Media Quality (TMQ) brand safety and suitability measurement to cover YouTube Audio Ads campaigns, bringing independent third-party verification to another growing format within Google’s video and audio ecosystem.
The expansion gives advertisers the ability to validate that their audio ads are running alongside content that meets their specific safety and suitability standards, consistent with the measurement IAS already provides across other YouTube formats.
It comes as digital audio advertising continues to grow as a channel. Digital audio ad revenue grew 10.2 per cent in 2025, while podcast revenue is approaching US$3 billion.
YouTube itself claims more than 1 billion monthly active podcast users globally across its various formats, according to Google data.
Audio Engagement Driving Demand For Measurement
IAS Chief Executive Officer, Lisa Utzschneider, pointed to rising audio consumption as a key factor behind the expansion.
“Digital audio is experiencing a surge in engagement, with U.S. adults due to spend an average of one hour and 26 minutes per day with the format across platforms in 2026 according to Emarketer,” Utzschneider explained.
“As more brands shift their budgets toward audio to reach these engaged audiences, it is essential that they have the same level of granular, content-level transparency they have come to expect from IAS.”
Utzschneider added that the company is looking to give advertisers the third-party measurement they need to grow their audio investments with greater confidence.
“We are excited to expand our Total Media Quality product to YouTube Audio Ads campaigns, providing advertisers with the third-party measurement they need to scale with confidence,” she told reporters.
What The Expansion Covers
The TMQ measurement for YouTube Audio Ads campaigns is designed to offer advertisers three core capabilities.
The first is what IAS describes as a unified, transparent view – AI-driven measurement that provides a single view of brand safety and suitability across the YouTube ecosystem, including Shorts, long-form video and audio.
The second is granular reporting aligned with industry standards, intended to show marketers exactly where their media is appearing so they can make informed decisions about scaling campaigns across YouTube.
The third is global coverage, with YouTube Audio ad measurement available across all regions.
Building On An Existing YouTube Partnership
The move extends a long-running collaboration between IAS and YouTube. In 2024, IAS launched IAS Optimisation for YouTube, which introduced enhanced pre-screen suitability controls designed to help advertisers manage contextual suitability before campaigns run, alongside its existing measurement reporting.
IAS has also rolled out a pre-screen brand safety solution for Google’s Search Partner Network (SPN) and achieved MRC accreditation for integrated third-party calculation and reporting of YouTube video viewability.

Why Audio Is Drawing Advertiser Attention
The expansion reflects a broader industry shift as brands increasingly follow audiences into audio and podcast environments. YouTube Audio Ads have become a tool for advertisers seeking to reach listeners in ambient environments – while they are working, exercising or commuting – rather than through traditional video placements.
As audio’s share of overall media consumption grows, the demand for independent verification and transparency in the channel has intensified. Advertisers who have come to expect granular content-level measurement in video and display are now seeking the same assurance in audio formats.
For IAS, the YouTube Audio Ads integration represents another step in extending its measurement capabilities across the full spectrum of digital advertising formats, from display and video through to connected TV and audio.
IAS describes itself as a global platform that connects AI-powered media quality measurement to business outcomes including brand perception and sales performance. The company works with brands, agencies and publishers across the open web, social, CTV and audio channels.
