Coverage Powered by High Performance Laptops

HP has launched the ZBook Ultra G1a, a 14-inch mobile workstation designed for professionals, businesses and creatives working across design, engineering and content creation.

The new device brings together AMD’s latest processing technology and local Ai capabilities in a compact form factor. HP says the laptop will give users the tools to work with complex applications and large language models without being tied to a desk.

Focus On Portability And Ai Integration

The ZBook Ultra G1a features a thin and lightweight chassis, paired with a long-lasting battery. According to HP, this makes it easier for professionals to carry high-end workflows into meetings, onto job sites or during travel.

It’s powered by AMD’s Ryzen Ai Max PRO processor, which includes up to 16 Zen 5 CPU cores, 40 RDNA 3.5 graphics compute units and an XDNA 2 Neural Processing Unit. The NPU can deliver up to 50 TOPS of Ai processing power.

“This launch is an important moment for us,” said Aman Sangar, HP ANZ Category Manager. “The ZBook Ultra G1a brings together performance and mobility in a way that supports how people are working now – and where work is heading.”

Workstation-Class Performance In A Laptop

The ZBook Ultra G1a supports up to 128GB of unified memory. Of that, up to 96GB can be allocated to the GPU. HP says this architecture allows users to move between demanding tasks like 3D rendering, real-time simulations and Ai-driven content creation without interruption.

The device has been designed with sectors such as architecture, engineering, product development and media in mind. It is also ISV-certified and supports AMD’s suite of PRO Technologies for business reliability and data protection.

Developers and creators can run large language models such as Meta’s Llama 70B and Mistral Ai’s Mixtral 8x7B locally, without relying on external servers. The aim is to give teams more control over performance, data security and responsiveness.

Ai Features Beyond Processing Power

Alongside local model execution, the ZBook Ultra G1a includes Ai-enhanced features such as Onlooker Detection with automatic screen blur and Windows Copilot+ integration. There are also tools for real-time meeting translations and video call enhancements, handled directly on the device.

The laptop is part of HP’s sustainability program. The heat plate uses 50 per cent recycled copper while the exterior covers are made from 80 per cent recycled aluminium.

Sangar said the aim was to meet real-world needs without compromising on environmental goals.

“We’re seeing strong demand for devices that are both powerful and sustainable,” he said. “With this launch, we’re offering something that can meet both expectations.”

Availability And Pricing

The HP ZBook Ultra G1a will be available on HP.com from 1 April 2025. Prices start from $3,000 AUD.
