Surprisingly Useful AI Article Enhancements
HiBob has announced an integration with Slack that connects its Bob human capital management (HCM) platform to Slack’s conversational interface, allowing employees, managers and HR teams to access workforce data and complete tasks without switching between systems.
The integration uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to connect Slack users directly to Bob through Slackbot. Users can ask questions in natural language about organisational structure, team dynamics and HR processes and receive real-time answers drawn from Bob’s people data.
Closing the context gap in enterprise AI
The integration addresses what HiBob describes as a gap in how AI-driven workflows handle decision-making. While AI tools can surface signals such as project delays, customer issues or missed targets, they often lack the human context needed to interpret those outcomes.
Factors like organisational structure, reporting relationships, workforce changes, tenure and team dynamics all influence how decisions are made. HiBob argues that bringing people data directly into Slack helps close that gap by ensuring workforce context is available where conversations and decisions already happen.
Through the integration, employees can query Slackbot about people, teams and HR processes. Managers can access workforce information relevant to their teams, while HR leaders can complete tasks and surface insights without leaving the Slack environment.
Positioning workforce intelligence as a missing AI layer
Ronni Zehavi, CEO and Co-Founder of HiBob, described the shift as a move away from application-centric enterprise software.
“The next generation of enterprise software won’t be built around applications. It will be built around AI agents,” Zehavi explained. “Those agents can only make effective decisions if they understand the people behind the work. Workforce intelligence is a critical layer of business context, and until now it has largely been missing from AI-powered workflows.”
He added that the integration reflects a broader philosophy about where decisions are made in modern organisations.
“By bringing Bob into Slack, we’re helping organisations ensure that people insights are part of every decision. Modern companies don’t need more disconnected systems. They need better context delivered where decisions are made,” Zehavi continued.
Fitting into the Salesforce and Slack AI ecosystem
The integration sits within a broader convergence of Salesforce, Agentforce, Slack and MCP into a single AI-powered work environment. HiBob is positioning its workforce intelligence capabilities as a layer within that ecosystem, giving AI assistants access to people data alongside other business information.
As organisations adopt AI to support decisions, recommendations and workflows, HiBob contends that the quality of outcomes will depend on whether the AI understands the people behind the business rather than the business alone.
Australian implications
For Australian businesses navigating AI adoption and increasing workforce complexity, the integration has practical implications for how HR, people managers and executive teams access information and make decisions.
Rather than requiring users to log into a separate HR platform, the Slack integration brings workforce data into the communication tools teams already use on a daily basis.
HiBob’s Bob platform is used by more than 5,400 organisations worldwide, including eToro, Fred Perry, Huel, SmartRecruiters and Save the Children.
