Hands-On Solar, Battery And Smart Energy: Inside Sungrow’s New Experience Hub

Sungrow has opened a Solar & Battery Experience Hub in Maroochydore on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, giving Australian consumers and businesses a place to interact with residential renewable energy technologies before making purchasing decisions.

The facility is the Chinese-headquartered inverter and energy storage manufacturer’s first experience centre in Australia, and is designed to let visitors see live demonstrations of solar inverters, battery storage systems, EV charging units and home energy management platforms.

The hub is powered entirely by Sungrow’s own inverter and battery system, functioning as a working case study for how commercial buildings can run on integrated clean energy infrastructure.

A Physical Footprint For A Digital-Era Energy Company

Sungrow has been selling into the Australian market for more than 14 years and claims more than 600,000 residential and commercial installations across the country.

Until now, however, the company has relied on its installer network and online channels to reach end customers. The Maroochydore hub represents a shift toward direct engagement with homeowners and commercial operators.

The centre is divided into three zones. The first, called Sungrow Journey, covers the company’s history, its global operations and its track record in Australia. The second is a Live Experience Area where visitors can interact with Sungrow’s residential solar, battery storage and EV charging products through live demonstrations and real-time system monitoring. The third zone, the Smart Hub Experience, focuses on home energy management, including battery optimisation, energy monitoring and what the company describes as future-ready smart energy technologies aimed at helping households increase energy independence.

Sunshine Coast Chosen As Launch Market

The decision to locate the hub on the Sunshine Coast was deliberate, according to Sungrow. The region has positioned itself as a sustainability-focused part of Queensland, and the company pointed to longstanding community support as a factor in the site selection.

Neil Yang, Channel Sales Manager at Sungrow Australia, explained the reasoning behind the location.

“Following 14 years of continuous support from the local community, we made the decision to establish this experience hub on the Sunshine Coast,” Yang said.

“Our long-term vision is to replicate this model across major towns and cities in Australia, creating more opportunities for renewable energy education, community engagement, local employment and sustainable infrastructure.”

Yang described the hub as more than a showroom.

“More than a physical space, it is a place where people can experience clean energy firsthand, learn from industry experts and gain the confidence to make smarter energy decisions,” he added.

Government And Community Backing

The opening ceremony drew representatives from local and state government, community organisations and the renewable energy industry.

Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli attended the launch and spoke about the role the hub could play in supporting the region’s adoption of clean energy technology. Queensland Government representative Kendall Hatcher MP, Member for Caloundra, also attended, acknowledging the hub’s community engagement focus and its potential contribution to local development.

Other attendees included Scott Su, Sungrow’s Technical Service Director; Vinny Kavanagh, Port of Brisbane Power & Renewable Lead; and Colin Lambie, Deputy Chair and Treasurer of Zero Emission Noosa.

Community Partnerships And Training Programs

Sungrow used the launch to announce a series of community-facing initiatives tied to the hub.

The company donated two energy storage systems to local charities as part of its commitment to the Sunshine Coast community.

The hub will also work with local installers to provide visitors with installation guidance and tailored energy solutions. Sungrow indicated it plans to host a rolling calendar of renewable energy events and workshops aimed at a broad audience, including homeowners, first-time homebuyers, commercial developers, corporate partners, educational institutions such as schools, TAFEs and universities, as well as government and community representatives.

The company has framed the hub as a vehicle for technical training and sustainability education, with the goal of building connections between Sungrow and the communities it operates in.

Broader Ambitions For The Australian Market

Sungrow’s decision to invest in a physical presence in Australia comes as the country continues its transition toward lower-carbon energy systems. Residential solar adoption in Australia remains among the highest in the world, and battery storage uptake has been growing as prices fall and grid volatility increases.

The company has flagged plans to roll out the experience hub model to other locations across the country, though it has not disclosed a timeline or specific cities under consideration.

For Sungrow, the hub is intended to shift how consumers engage with renewable energy products – moving from a transactional purchase to an experience-led process where buyers can see, test and understand the technology before committing.

Bookings for the hub can be made by calling 0472 787 829 or emailing hello@sungrowpower.com.au. Further information is available at www.sungrowpower.com/au/en/aus-sungrow-solar-battery-experience-hub.
