Ongoing innovation, open architecture, and hybrid cloud solutions continue to support Genetec’s global market leadership in video management software.
Genetec Inc., a major provider of unified security, public safety, operations, and business intelligence solutions, has been confirmed as the leader in video management software (VMS) for another year. This recognition comes from two key industry analysts, Omdia and Novaira Insights.
According to Omdia’s 2024 Video Surveillance & Analytics Database Report, Genetec has kept its position as the global leader in the VMS market. The report also ranks Genetec first in the combined market for Video Management Software (VMS) and Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS).
In the Americas, Genetec has held the number one spot for 13 years. The report also highlights Genetec’s performance in other regions. In EMEA, it ranks second, while in the Asia Pacific region (excluding China), the company is growing at three times the market rate and holds the third spot.
Novaira Insights’ report also confirmed Genetec’s leadership, ranking it first in Total Video Surveillance Software and Service Agreements in the Americas. It placed the company second in Asia Pacific (excluding China) and third in EMEA.
Growth in Cloud Solutions
Genetec’s performance in the global VSaaS market has also been strong. Omdia’s report places the company among the top 10 globally and highlights its growth in the Americas, where it ranks as one of the top three companies that gained the most market share. This success reflects Genetec’s focus on hybrid cloud solutions, such as its Security Center SaaS, designed to meet the rising demand for flexible cloud deployments.
Omdia’s Research Manager, Physical Security Technologies, Oliver Philippou, spoke about the trend towards hybrid cloud. “Over 50 per cent of end-users are expected to keep at least part of their security infrastructure on-premises,” Philippou said. He explained that a hybrid-cloud approach allows customers to slowly move towards cloud-based systems while keeping on-premises storage for legal or business reasons. “This flexibility leads to cost savings and ensures customers aren’t forced into a one-size-fits-all solution,” he added.
The Hybrid Approach as a Standard
Christian Morin, Vice President of Product Engineering at Genetec, also commented on the shift towards hybrid systems. “The hybrid approach isn’t just a step towards the cloud, it’s now the standard for deploying physical security with cloud technology,” Morin said. He emphasised that businesses need a flexible solution tailored to their specific needs, with many choosing not to fully transition to the cloud.
Genetec’s continued leadership in the VMS and VSaaS markets showcases its ongoing commitment to providing adaptable solutions for various industries, allowing organisations to choose the best options for their unique requirements. For more details about Genetec, visit www.genetec.com.
