Fujifilm Partners With DoxAI To Bring AI Fraud Detection To Financial Services

Fujifilm Business Innovation New Zealand (FBNZ) has partnered with DoxAI, a venture of Lakeba Group, to offer an AI-powered fraud detection solution to financial services organisations across New Zealand.

The partnership will see FBNZ deliver DoxAI’s Fraud Check AI product through its Process Automation team. The solution is designed to automate the review of documents such as identity papers, payslips, financial statements and supporting paperwork, flagging inconsistencies, manipulations and high-risk elements that may indicate fraud.

Targeting Document-Heavy Workflows

Financial services organisations routinely process large volumes of identity, financial and compliance documentation, much of which has traditionally been reviewed through manual checks.

Fraud Check AI is intended to reduce that manual burden by using artificial intelligence to identify potentially fraudulent documents with greater speed and consistency than human reviewers working alone.

Cameron Mount, FBNZ’s Director of Sales, pointed to the scale of the challenge facing the sector.

“Financial institutions in New Zealand are facing increasing pressure to detect and prevent fraud while handling thousands of documents every day,” Mount explained. “By partnering with DoxAI, we’re expanding our capabilities and helping our customers reduce manual processes, strengthen compliance and confidently identify fraudulent documents with AI-driven precision.”

Built For The Australasian Market

DoxAI is headquartered in Australia and has designed Fraud Check AI with Australasian regulations, compliance frameworks and real document samples in mind.

That regional focus is a key part of the pitch. Rather than deploying a global fraud detection model and adapting it to local conditions, DoxAI’s approach trains its AI models on documents specific to the Australia and New Zealand market.

The company argues this delivers higher accuracy and faster deployment for organisations operating within the region’s regulatory environment.

Alfonso Porcelli, Chief Executive Officer of DoxAI, framed the partnership as a natural fit.

“Our technology is built for the realities of the Australasian market,” Porcelli noted. “By combining DoxAI’s accuracy with FBNZ’s process automation expertise, we’re delivering a solution that helps financial institutions detect fraud quickly and protect their customers.”

Beyond Financial Services

While the initial focus is on financial services, the partnership is structured to extend into other sectors over time.

FBNZ will have access to DoxAI’s wider portfolio of solutions, with plans to introduce further intelligent automation modules across the legal, education, government and healthcare sectors. These are industries where document-intensive workflows can create operational bottlenecks around compliance, document verification and customer onboarding.

Mount indicated that the broader DoxAI product roadmap is central to FBNZ’s strategy.

“FBNZ is committed to delivering a wide suite of AI-enabled solutions to help New Zealand organisations operate more efficiently and securely,” he added. “DoxAI’s roadmap of capabilities will be an important part of this, and we’re excited to work with them to bring additional modules to our customers as their needs evolve.”

What Fraud Check AI Does

At a practical level, Fraud Check AI automates the review process for documents commonly submitted during financial transactions and onboarding processes. The system scans for inconsistencies and manipulations that may indicate a document has been altered or fabricated.

FBNZ outlined several areas where it expects the solution to deliver value for customers. These include improved fraud detection accuracy using AI models trained on ANZ-specific documents, reduced manual workload, faster processing times, enhanced compliance aligned to local regulatory requirements and scalable implementation delivered by FBNZ’s local team.

A Long-Standing Local Presence

FBNZ has operated in New Zealand since 1964 and offers a range of business technology solutions including business process automation, managed IT services, cybersecurity, videoconferencing and collaboration tools, digital signage and print management.

The company positions the DoxAI partnership as an extension of its existing process automation capabilities, adding AI-powered fraud detection to a portfolio that already spans document management and automation services.

DoxAI operates as a venture of Lakeba Group, a global venture catalyst founded by Giuseppe Porcelli that has conceived and commercialised 15 ventures to date. Lakeba’s strategic partnerships span Microsoft, Fujifilm, Perpetual and other organisations.
