Fujifilm Australia is celebrating its 20th anniversary as part of the Fujifilm Group, reflecting two decades of contributions to the local photography, printing, and medical imaging sectors. Since joining the Fujifilm Group in 2004, Fujifilm Australia has been a major player in digital imaging and technology in the country.
Over these two decades, the company has evolved, expanding its footprint in both the consumer and professional markets. Fujifilm’s history in Australia, however, extends back more than 70 years, with the company originally known as Hanimex Pty Ltd, which distributed Fujifilm products locally before it was acquired by the Fujifilm Group.
A Milestone in Healthcare
One of the key areas Fujifilm Australia has contributed to is healthcare. The company’s advanced medical imaging solutions have had an impact on diagnostics and patient care across the country. The installation of the first Fujifilm Open MRI Machine in Sydney is an example of how Fujifilm continues to push boundaries in the healthcare space.
The company also recently launched the Ai-powered Amulet Sophinity mammography system in Australia. This new system is the first to be installed outside of Japan and highlights Fujifilm’s commitment to bringing cutting-edge medical technology to the local market.
Driving Digital Transformation
In the early 2000s, Fujifilm was quick to embrace digital transformation, launching a series of innovative digital cameras and printing solutions that set a new standard for image quality. Over the years, these products have become popular with both professional and amateur photographers.
Recently, the company introduced the Fujifilm X-M5 and GFX100S II, which are aimed at content creators and professional photographers. These releases show that Fujifilm Australia continues to adapt to changes in the industry while maintaining its reputation for delivering high-quality digital imaging products.
Commitment to Sustainability
Fujifilm Australia has also prioritised sustainability in its operations. The company has implemented several initiatives aimed at reducing waste, conserving energy, and promoting recycling. For instance, the packaging for Instax products now uses entirely recycled paper, and the company’s Melbourne factory sources all of its water from its roof.
In addition, the local team has been involved in waste collection efforts, having gathered 961kg of rubbish around their offices so far this year.
Looking to the Future
“This milestone reflects our dedication to innovation and commitment to serving our customers and communities,” said Ryuichi Matoba, CEO of Fujifilm Australia. “As we look to the future, we remain focused on delivering solutions that meet the evolving needs of the Australian market.”
The 90th anniversary of Fujifilm globally has coincided with this local milestone, adding to the celebrations. As part of this global anniversary, Fujifilm introduced its new group purpose, “Giving Our World More Smiles.” Fujifilm Australia was also recognised as one of the top 10 medium businesses in The Australian’s Best Places to Work rankings.
