Smart home camera brand, EZVIZ, has launched a new range of security cameras, video doorbells, smart locks and home control devices across Australia, with all camera products built around local storage and subscription-free operation.

The range is available now through Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi stores nationally. It is led by the dual-lens HB90 outdoor camera and the EP8 Ultra video doorbell, and extends to an indoor camera, a biometric smart lock and a portable touchscreen control hub.

EZVIZ is positioning the range around a key differentiator in the Australian market: camera products that include local microSD storage out of the box, with outdoor battery cameras shipping with a 16GB microSD card at no additional cost. Cloud storage subscriptions are not required to access core recording and playback features.

Always-On Video for battery cameras

The outdoor camera range incorporates what EZVIZ calls Always-On Video technology, which is designed to address a common limitation of battery-powered security cameras.

Traditional battery cameras typically record only when motion is detected, producing short clips that can miss activity occurring between triggers. EZVIZ’s Always-On Video maintains continuous visual coverage throughout the day, capturing activity around the clock before switching to normal-speed recording when relevant movement is detected.

The system is designed to balance continuous awareness with battery life, giving users a more complete picture of activity around their property rather than relying solely on motion-triggered clips.

The flagship outdoor camera

The HB90 Dual Kit is a dual-lens outdoor security camera available in both battery and solar-powered configurations. Unlike conventional dual-lens products where the wide-angle upper lens remains fixed, the HB90 features two independently rotating lenses that can reposition and work together to cover a larger area.

The camera delivers 3K resolution, AI-powered human and vehicle detection with automatic tracking and full-colour night vision. It also includes two-way talk, an integrated siren and strobe light, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and weather-resistant construction. The single camera with solar panel is priced at $550, with a two-pack available for $950.

Additional variants include a triple-lens model at $670 through Harvey Norman and a 4G-connected version at $650.

Video doorbell with package detection

The EP8 Ultra video doorbell combines a 3K main camera with a secondary 1080p downward-facing camera that monitors the doorstep and package area. The dual-camera setup provides simultaneous coverage of visitors and deliveries, addressing one of the common blind spots in conventional video doorbells.

AI-powered detection covers human recognition, package detection, familiar-face recognition and package-removal alerts. The doorbell also features a built-in interactive screen that supports two-way video calling directly at the front door, colour night vision, distortion correction and an AI voice changer for communicating with unfamiliar visitors.

Built-in storage is provided without requiring a cloud subscription. The EP8 Ultra is compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, and is priced at $400.

Indoor camera and smart lock

The S10 indoor camera combines a 2K+ security camera with a four-inch touchscreen, video calling capability, digital photo frame and Bluetooth speaker. It offers 360-degree coverage, smart tracking and AI-powered human and pet detection. It is priced at $380.

The DL50FVX smart lock supports multiple entry methods including 3D facial recognition, palm recognition, fingerprint access, passcodes, Bluetooth keys, temporary codes and remote unlocking. Biometric data is processed and stored locally. It includes a built-in camera, four-inch colour display and two-way communication. It is the most expensive product in the range at $1,200 and is available through Harvey Norman.

Budget outdoor option and control screen

The HB8 Lite is a more affordable outdoor camera at $300, offering 3K resolution, 360-degree pan-and-tilt coverage, AI-powered human and vehicle detection, smart tracking, full-colour night vision and Always-On Video. It supports up to 512GB of microSD storage and includes a 16GB card. A four-pack is available at $1,060 through Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi.

The SD7 Smart Screen is a seven-inch portable touchscreen that consolidates live viewing, playback and controls for compatible EZVIZ devices into a single dashboard. It is priced at $250.

Subscription-free as a market position

Australian Country Manager for EZVIZ, Jock Jones, framed the range around giving consumers functionality without ongoing costs.

“Australians have enormous choice when it comes to smart home security, but often that choice comes with ongoing subscription costs and compromises around how and when a camera records,” Jones explained.

“We believe consumers should be able to buy a great security product and immediately access the features that make it useful without feeling locked into a monthly bill.”

Jones also pointed to Always-On Video as challenging expectations around what battery-powered cameras can deliver.

Privacy and security

EZVIZ highlighted its approach to privacy and cybersecurity across the range. Security features include AES and TLS encryption protocols, authentication controls and encrypted storage. Privacy controls across compatible products include privacy zones, physical camera shutters and configurable authentication and permissions.

The company, founded in 2013, operates in more than 130 countries and reports more than 230 million registered users and more than 360 million connected smart devices globally. It employs more than 4,500 people and invests more than 14 per cent of annual revenue in research and development.
