Ecovacs Deebot X1 Plus

Ecovacs Robotics launches Jacob Jensen-designed robot vacuum

Ecovacs has announced the expansion of its premium Deebot X1 robo-vac range with the launch of the Deebot X1 Plus. Like it’s predecessors, it’s part of Ecovacs’ ongoing collaboration with Jacob Jensen Design.

Ecovacs said that the need for home appliances to fit seamlessly into the home has never been greater, with internal market research showing that Australians are taking more of an interest in interior design trends and the design and aesthetics of key appliances in their home, than ever before when making purchase decisions.

The Deebot X1 Plus includes the company’s strongest suction power at 5000Pa, the latest AIVI 3D and TrueMapping 2.0 technologies, the industry’s first natural language interactive YIKO AI Voice Assistant, the OZMO Pro 3.0 Oscillating Mopping System and its own built-in air freshener. An Auto-Empty Station enables both hands-free and hygienic cleaning by automatically emptying the dustbin after vacuuming while keeping dust and allergens contained.

The most compact member of the Deebot X1 Family, the Plus includes European craftsmanship from the renowned Jacob Jensen Design House plus the use of premium materials such as metal decorative plates as part of its classic silver and black palette.

Ecovacs’ market research shows that interest in interior design trends has increased markedly, going from 45 per cent of people interested, up to 59 per cent. It was conducted independently by Pure Profile in July (2022). A 1,307 sample size of Australians aged 25-65, even gender split, and representative sizes from all states and territories was used.

When assessing new appliances, 54 per cent of those surveyed said that design and overall appearance play a significant role in the decision-making process, and 79 per cent stated that the quality of materials is the first thing they assess when considering the design of a product. Ultimately, 50 per cent of people surveyed said that if a piece of technology doesn’t look good in their home surroundings, they won’t keep it out on display.

This is especially important for robotic vacuums, with the research also showing that 62 per cent of surveyed Australians aspire to own a robotic vacuum in the near future, and 81 per cent of those surveyed now being open to embracing robots in the home if they can assist with chores and save time.

“Since launching the first two models of the Deebot X1 family that were a collaboration with Jacob Jensen Design, we have been overwhelmed with the response locally, and are delighted to be adding the Deebot X1 Plus into the mix. This is particularly exciting as our latest market research shows that 59 per cent of surveyed Australians have a strong interest in interior design trends and almost two-thirds of those surveyed would like to own a robot vacuum in the future,” said Karen Powell, Head of Ecovacs Robotics in Australia and New Zealand.

“We truly believe the Deebot X1 Plus will be the most beautiful robot vacuum in the market, something that can rightfully take pride of place in your home while delivering an unprecedented hands-free clean. Simply put, we believe that home cleaning has never looked so good!”

“Through extensive research and our design process we were able to create a product that is both elegant and efficient. Every detail has been so carefully considered and re-worked over and over again. All of this effort is part of our own process, in our own pursuit of perfection.” said Kim Michel, Global Design Director and GM at Jacob Jensen Design.

Mapping and obstacle avoidance

Ecovacs says mapping and obstacle detection are two of the most exciting innovations seen in robotic vacuums over the last few years and that Ecovacs’ AIVI 3D technology significantly improves the robot’s perception of the environment using laser and visual sensing technologies for best-in-class obstacle avoidance.

The TrueMapping 2.0 technology speeds up mapping and offers a wider field of view. Together with AIVI 3D technology support, Ecovacs adds a third dimension to household mapping. It increases mapping speed, reduces cleaning time and enables the robots to navigate more precisely across different home environments. By making it easier for users to send the robot to target specific dirty areas and locations, the Deebot is able to provide a more convenient and efficient cleaning experience.

YIKO voice control

Ecovacs says that YIKO is the industry’s first natural language, built-in interactive assistant tailored for home service robots. By combining voice and visual AI algorithms, YIKO enables natural language communication and multimodal interaction. When integrated with the robot functions, intelligent AI voice interaction technologies, and voice semantics from Google, it gives users complete control and enables precise guidance, simplifying complicated household tasks by understanding and implementing user voice instructions. By saying “OK YIKO, start quick mapping”, users can build a complete map for efficient cleaning. Alternatively, users can ask their Deebot to come towards their voice, vacuum under the sofa, go back to clean the bedroom, and much more.

Data and Privacy

The Deebot X1 Plus also supports 24-hour intelligent movement control. The built-in camera and two-way voice function allow customers to use the Ecovacs Home App to talk to family members, pets and interact using videos.

Ecovacs tells us that The Deebot X1 Plus enables end-to-end data security by integrating software and hardware, adopting asymmetric encryption technology, featuring multiple authentications, and securing personal privacy data. ECOVACS was the world’s first robotic vacuum company to obtain the TÜV Rheinland privacy and safety certificate for both software and hardware.

Deebot T10 Plus

Ecovacs has also added to its highly successful ‘T’ series with the launch of the new Deebot T10 Plus. With 3,000Pa of suction in its all-white design, the Deebot T10 Plus includes features such as TrueMapping 2.0 mapping and Navigation technology and the YIKO voice-controlled assistant. It comes with a docking station that auto-empties to deliver up to 60 days of hands-free cleaning, air freshening capabilities and OZMO Pro 3.0 Oscillating Mopping.

There’s also AIVI 3.0 A.I. technology for obstacle avoidance. This is short for ‘Artificial Intelligence with Visual Interpretation’ and uses visual inputs from its front camera to not only avoid obstacles but detect and understand them in the process. This enables customisable options with YIKO and within the Ecovacs Home app, as well as further delivering hands-free convenience.
