Surprisingly Useful AI Article Enhancements
Home robotics company, Ecovacs, has released its latest flagship robotic vacuum and mop for the Australian and New Zealand markets, the Deebot X12S OmniCyclone, which combines updated suction hardware with a third-generation roller mopping system and AI-driven navigation.
The unit carries a recommended retail price of $2,999 and will be available through Australian retailers from 17 September.
Roller Mopping Gets An Upgrade
The centrepiece of the X12S OmniCyclone is its OZMO Roller 3.0 mopping system, the third iteration of a roller-based mopping technology Ecovacs first introduced as an alternative to the spinning disc mops used by many competitors.
The company claims that since the OZMO Roller system was introduced globally in September 2024, models equipped with the technology have shipped more than 2.8 million units worldwide as of July 2026, based on its internal data.
The X12S OmniCyclone features a 27cm mop roller that Ecovacs describes as 50 per cent longer than the previous generation, which it claims delivers twice the cleaning efficiency in mop-only mode. The roller operates at 220 RPM with 4,000Pa of downward pressure, designed to scrub away dried-on stains and embedded grime.
Unlike dual-plate mop designs that can push debris around the floor, the roller system is continuously rinsed in real time through a pressurised self-washing mechanism, so the mop contact surface stays cleaner throughout a cycle.
For areas with heavy soiling, such as kitchens, Ecovacs has added what it calls FocusJet Stain Pre-Dissolving Technology, which pre-treats dried-on marks before the roller passes over them. The company lists dried soy sauce and coffee stains among the types of mess the system is designed to handle.
When the robot encounters carpet, the roller lifts 15mm and a cover descends to create a barrier between the wet roller and the carpet fibres, preventing moisture transfer.
Suction And Dust Mite Removal
On the vacuuming side, the X12S OmniCyclone delivers 27,000Pa of suction through what Ecovacs brands as its BLAST Suction system, rated at 53 air watts. The company describes this as more than 60 per cent stronger than the previous generation.
The vacuum uses a dedicated anti-mite chamber that targets dust mites in carpets and crevices. Ecovacs cites SGS testing that returned an average dust mite removal rate of 95.45 per cent on Wilton carpet using Dermatophagoides farinae mites in sweeping mode with ultra-strong suction and edge-following enabled, though the company notes actual performance may vary depending on environment and usage conditions.
The brush assembly uses what Ecovacs calls ZeroTangle 4.0 technology, an airflow-directed system designed to prevent hair from wrapping around the brush roll. Brush strips are 130 per cent thicker than the prior model, intended to agitate carpet fibres and dislodge embedded particles.
Edge Cleaning And Navigation
The TruEdge 3.0 system extends the robot’s cleaning reach to recessed skirting boards, under cabinets and other areas that standard round-bodied robot vacuums typically miss.
Navigation is handled by AIVI 3D 4.0, which Ecovacs describes as enabling the robot to adjust its cleaning path in real time as home environments change. The system is designed to maintain coverage along edges while keeping a safe distance from pets, pet waste and other obstacles.
Voice Control And AI Scheduling
The X12S OmniCyclone ships with Agent Yiko 3.0, which Ecovacs positions as a fully autonomous AI agent rather than a simple voice assistant. The system is designed to learn a household’s layout, habits and preferences over time, then automatically adjust cleaning schedules and strategies without requiring manual input.
Agent Yiko 3.0 also provides guidance for initial setup and troubleshooting.

Self-Cleaning Base Station
The accompanying OMNI Station handles post-clean maintenance automatically. A 32-nozzle direct pump system washes the mop roller with hot clean water, while a dual-layer scraping mechanism and rapid-drain structure are designed to prevent cross-contamination between cleaning cycles.
The station’s dirty water box has an automatic cleaning system, and the dirty water tank features scheduled heating to reduce build-up and odours. Dust disposal is handled by PureCyclone 2.0 auto-empty technology, paired with a dual-way scraper ring, a quick-empty button and an air-path auto-drying function.
The system is designed for extended hands-free operation, reducing the frequency with which owners need to interact with the base station between cleans.
Battery And Large Home Support
For larger homes, the X12S OmniCyclone includes PowerBoost Charging Plus, which combines fast energy replenishment with power management. Ecovacs claims the system can add 13 per cent charge in just three minutes, allowing the robot to resume cleaning larger floor plans without extended downtime at the dock.
Ecovacs Frames The Launch Around Hidden Household Mess
Regional Director of Australia and New Zealand at Ecovacs, Karen Powell, framed the new model as a response to the types of household mess that go beyond what is visible on the surface.
“Building on our pioneering roller-washing technology, we’ve developed a robotic cleaning system that not only tackles visible messes with greater efficiency but also addresses the hidden dust, debris and allergens that impact everyday home hygiene,” Powell explained.
“By combining powerful cleaning performance with advanced automation and AI, we’re delivering a smarter, more effortless cleaning experience for households across Australia and New Zealand.”
