Dyson has unveiled the V10 Konical, its first cordless vacuum with a self-emptying dock, marking the company’s entry into the automated bin-emptying category that has become a standard feature among competitors.
The V10 Konical is available to purchase in Australia now at a price of $799, while the accompanying Auto-empty Dok will go on sale later this year for $299.
De-Tangling Head And HEPA Filtration
The V10 Konical is built around a de-tangling conical cleaner head designed to prevent long hair and pet fur from wrapping around the brush bar. Dyson claims the design eliminates the need to manually cut or pull tangled hair from the roller. The head also features green laser-like illumination to reveal dust particles on hard floors that may not be visible to the naked eye.
The vacuum now includes whole-machine HEPA filtration with a fully sealed, five-stage system that Dyson claims captures 99.99 per cent of particles as small as 0.1 microns. That size range covers allergens, bacteria and viruses.
Dyson states the filtration system maintains consistent suction throughout use, with only filtered air expelled back into the home.
Performance Specifications
The V10 Konical delivers 150 Air Watts of suction, which Dyson claims represents a 30 per cent improvement over the Dyson V8. Runtime is rated at 60 minutes, a 50 per cent increase over the V8, with a swappable battery pack available for those who need extended cleaning sessions.
The vacuum offers three power modes – Eco, Medium and Boost – controlled via a single button. It weighs 2.65 KG and has a bin capacity of 0.54 litres.
The Auto-Empty Dok
The Auto-empty Dok is the centrepiece of the new system. When the vacuum is docked, dust and debris are automatically transferred into a sealed bin liner that Dyson claims can hold up to 60 days of dirt, reducing the need for frequent manual emptying.
The dock includes its own HEPA filtration system to capture fine particles during the emptying process. It also charges the vacuum and provides on-board storage for three commonly used cleaning tools.
Asaph Ooi, Head of New Product Development for Floorcare at Dyson, described the dock as a response to a common user frustration.
“Emptying a vacuum bin is messy and inconvenient. Dust escapes, allergens linger, and it interrupts the cleaning process,” Ooi explained. “We engineered a dock that does it for you, automatically and hygienically. It charges your machine, stores your tools, and seals away dust for up to two months. It’s a simple idea, but it solves a real frustration.”
Backward Compatibility With Older Dyson Models
Dyson has designed the Auto-empty Dok to be backward compatible with the existing Dyson V8 Cyclone, meaning current owners of that model can add the dock to their setup without replacing their entire vacuum.
Accessories across the Dyson V8, V8 Cyclone and V10 Konical are also interchangeable, allowing owners to carry forward tools they already have.
A Competitive Category
The self-emptying dock category has grown substantially in recent years, with multiple vacuum manufacturers offering similar automated emptying solutions. Dyson’s entry into this space with the V10 Konical and Auto-empty Dok brings the feature to its cordless stick vacuum lineup for the first time.
The V10 Konical is available now in Australia. The Auto-empty Dok will follow later in 2026.
