Sydney-based cybersecurity consultancy Cyber in Space has struck an exclusive partnership with post-quantum cryptography firm ExeQuantum to deliver quantum-readiness and cyber resilience services to the aerospace and space sectors.
Under the arrangement, Cyber in Space becomes ExeQuantum’s exclusive aerospace and space sector partner. The deal brings together Cyber in Space’s work in space system cybersecurity, regulatory compliance and operational assurance with ExeQuantum’s cryptographic discovery, inventory and post-quantum migration tools.
The two companies say the partnership is aimed at space operators, satellite manufacturers, launch providers, defence organisations and critical infrastructure operators that need to prepare for emerging cyber threats and the shift to quantum-safe security.
What the partnership covers
The joint offering spans several service lines: quantum readiness and post-quantum cryptography assessments, Cryptographic Bill of Materials (CBOM) discovery and analysis, space system cyber assurance and risk assessments, supply chain cyber resilience programs, space mission and ground segment security reviews, and compliance and certification support for government and commercial space programs.
Cyber in Space will incorporate ExeQuantum’s cryptographic discovery capabilities into its advisory services. The companies say this will give customers actionable intelligence and migration planning, allowing them to identify cryptographic vulnerabilities, understand their exposure to “harvest now, decrypt later” threats and build roadmaps toward quantum-safe operations.
Why space systems are a target
Space systems present a particular challenge for cryptographic security because they are long-lived assets. Satellites and ground infrastructure can remain in operation for decades, meaning cryptographic protections put in place at launch may be vulnerable well before the end of a system’s operational life.
Governments and industry bodies have placed growing emphasis on cybersecurity across the space value chain, with post-quantum cryptography, secure communications and proactive threat detection all identified as areas of concern.
Chris Cubbage, Founding Director of Cyber in Space, framed the deal as a response to those pressures.
