Mission-critical connectivity provider Contrivian has selected UK-based Ilex Content Strategies as its marketing and communications agency of record, tasking the firm with leading brand messaging and international media relations.

Contrivian provides connectivity services to governments, emergency responders, energy operators, mining companies and enterprises operating in remote environments where connectivity must remain stable, secure and predictable.

Ilex Content Strategies is a B2B marketing and communications agency that specialises in the telecoms and technology sectors, working with global brands including du, Zain Omantel and Telefonica.

Supporting international growth

Under the appointment, Ilex will deliver strategic communications designed to support Contrivian’s international sales efforts and strengthen the company’s positioning across its target markets.

The two organisations will work together on targeted media engagement, thought leadership and strategic communications aimed at increasing Contrivian’s visibility and market awareness.

Grant Kirkwood, CEO at Contrivian, pointed to the agency’s sector knowledge as a key factor in the decision.

“While we have worked with communications agencies in the past, we have never experienced the depth of industry knowledge and expertise that we have with Ilex. They get what we do as a business and I trust that they will support our objectives with strategic media relations that have already generated leads for us,” Kirkwood explained.

“It’s rare to find a partner that can deliver value from day one without the need to explain and educate them on the business. That has been a clear differentiator. While we can focus on connectivity, we know our customers are kept in the loop of our news through Ilex’s global reputation and efficiency.”

Borderless PR model

Ilex will use what it calls its Borderless PR model to deliver consistent messaging and global reach across Contrivian’s key markets, without the need to manage multiple local agencies in different regions.

The agency will work alongside Juniper Digital and fractional Chief Marketing Officer Matthew Ray to deliver international media relations and strategic consultancy aligned to Contrivian’s sales objectives.

Matthew Whalley, Managing Director and Co-Founder at Ilex Content Strategies, who was named in the PRWeek Power Book Middle East, outlined the agency’s approach to the partnership.

“Contrivian has strong leadership and clear ambitions for growth. Our focus is on turning that into market momentum, ensuring the right audiences understand who they are, what they stand for and why it matters,” Whalley noted.

“When that’s done well, it directly supports sales and accelerates growth. We’re looking forward to working closely with the team to make that happen.”

Sector focus

Contrivian enables organisations to modernise connectivity in demanding and remote environments without adding complexity or disruption to their operations.

The company’s client base spans sectors including government, emergency services, energy and mining, where reliable connectivity is a functional requirement rather than a convenience.

Founded in 2012, Ilex Content Strategies works with organisations in the telecoms, cloud, cybersecurity, data centre and digital infrastructure sectors. The agency focuses on clients at key moments of growth, repositioning and market expansion, combining industry expertise with strategic communications to build visibility and deliver commercial outcomes.

Ilex operates as a full-service agency offering PR, strategic consultancy, content creation, sales enablement and video and digital services for organisations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Americas.
