Surprisingly Useful AI Article Enhancements
Commvault has announced the availability of its full Cloud cyber resilience platform on Amazon Web Services (AWS), including offerings such as Cleanroom Recovery, SaaS services, Air Gap Protect, and Cloud Rewind.
This move offers AWS customers a broader range of solutions to automate data protection, enhance cyber recovery, and streamline the restoration of cloud applications after cyberattacks.
Addressing Cyber Resilience in the Cloud
As more organisations adopt cloud-first strategies, cyber resilience has become a priority. Commvault’s expansion into AWS delivers enhanced capabilities for businesses aiming to strengthen their data protection. With 73 per cent of new data expected to be stored in the cloud, the need for robust resilience solutions is growing.
Commvault’s offerings for AWS customers include the following:
Cloud Rewind: Reverting to Clean Data Copies
Powered by Appranix technology, Cloud Rewind functions like a time machine for AWS. It allows organisations to revert to a clean copy of their data and rebuild cloud applications quickly. This feature aims to cut downtime from potentially days or weeks to mere minutes.
Cyber Resilience for Amazon S3
With its acquisition of Clumio, Commvault plans to introduce new technology for Amazon S3 customers. This will provide the ability to restore clean data copies in the event of a cyberattack. As more companies store large datasets in Amazon S3, including those for Ai and machine learning, this new technology will help safeguard critical data.
Air Gap Protect: A Final Line of Defense
Commvault’s Air Gap Protect will give AWS customers access to immutable, isolated copies of data stored in a Commvault-managed tenant. This added protection works alongside Commvault’s existing backup capabilities, ensuring that customers have resilient, safe storage options.
Cleanroom Recovery: Isolated Recovery for Quick Response
Commvault’s Cleanroom Recovery is designed to help organisations recover from cyberattacks by automatically provisioning recovery infrastructure on AWS. This feature enables businesses to restore workloads to a safe, isolated location while conducting forensic investigations. Cleanroom Recovery also allows companies to test their recovery plans in advance, reducing the impact of potential cyber threats.
Building on Commvault’s Existing Foundation
Commvault has a strong presence in data protection for AWS. Over the past year, the company has backed up exabytes of data to AWS. With the introduction of the full Cloud platform on AWS, this number is expected to grow.
Availability and Access
Commvault’s solutions for AWS will become available in the coming months, with joint customers able to access the full suite through AWS Marketplace.
Customers Welcome New Capabilities
Marek Duranik, Associate Director of Core Infrastructure & Data Storage and Protection at Merck, Sharp & Dohme (MSD), said that using Commvault in their AWS environment will significantly enhance their data protection efforts.
“Commvault’s orchestration capabilities allow us to automate recovery and streamline our response to cyberattacks. Our data environments will be secure and prepared for any potential threats,” Duranik said.
Commvault’s Chief Technology and Ai Officer, Pranay Ahlawat, also expressed confidence in the platform’s ability to support joint customers. “We are proud to extend the full power of the Commvault Cloud platform to AWS. Our technology will empower customers to recover faster and mitigate threats more effectively.”
