CoinCover Joins Digital Asset’s Copper-based Disaster Recovery Setup At Canton Treasury

Digital Asset has moved to strengthen its internal treasury operations by bringing CoinCover into its Copper-based custody setup as a Trusted Third Party, aiming to create a benchmark recovery model for institutions operating across the Canton Network.

The company framed the move as a practical application of the network’s focus on distributed trust and regulated interoperability, especially as more financial institutions explore tokenised assets and distributed workflows.

Strengthening Recovery In Decentralised Treasury Systems

Digital Asset has embedded CoinCover’s recovery technology directly into its internal custody infrastructure, giving the organisation a verifiable disaster recovery model designed to protect treasury keys and digital assets in cases involving compromise, loss, or staff turnover.

Eric Saraniecki, Co-Founder and Head of Network Strategy, said the company’s own treasury needed to match the same governance and operational expectations promoted to ecosystem participants. “As we continue to scale the Canton Network, it’s vital that our own treasury reflects the same principles of security, governance, and recoverability that we advocate for our ecosystem,” he said.

He added that incorporating CoinCover within the Copper configuration ensures the organisation maintains a level of resilience expected by regulated institutions.

Third-Party Assurance Expected By Regulators

CoinCover will act as an independent recovery authority, a role that has become more common as regulators and institutional risk teams look for demonstrable safeguards around digital asset operations.

Anthony Yeung, CCO at CoinCover, described the arrangement as a signal to the broader market. “Digital Asset’s adoption of CoinCover’s recovery framework is a powerful validation of the importance of operational resilience in institutional digital asset management,” he said. He argued that the arrangement will influence how institutions design recovery workflows across the Canton ecosystem and similar environments.

The setup reflects a trend toward embedding “recovery by design” into digital asset infrastructure rather than relying on ad hoc processes or manual safeguards.

Copper Backs Integrated Recovery Model

Copper, which provides the initial custody layer in the treasury stack, said the move reinforces institutional expectations around digital asset security.

Amar Kuchinad, CEO at Copper, said the three-way arrangement strengthens the operational environment for financial institutions. “By working with CoinCover and Digital Asset, we’re strengthening the ecosystem for institutions, ensuring secure, innovative treasury operations that meet the highest standards for safeguarding digital assets,” he said.

Expanding CoinCover’s Institutional Footprint

The integration builds on CoinCover’s work with several digital asset infrastructure providers, positioning the company as a recovery specialist for organisations seeking regulated-grade controls.

Digital Asset said the model is intended to be replicable across institutions operating on the Canton Network, particularly those engaging with tokenised assets, distributed workflows, and multi-party settlement systems.
