Surprisingly Useful AI Article Enhancements
Cohesity and HPE have expanded their seven-year strategic alliance with new resell agreements, deeper technical integrations and strengthened joint go-to-market execution across data protection, cyber resilience and hybrid cloud.
The expanded relationship sees both companies cross-selling each other’s products and tightening platform integrations, with the aim of aligning infrastructure, data protection and recovery into a combined portfolio for on-premises, cloud and edge environments.
Cross-resell arrangements
Under the expanded alliance, Cohesity will begin reselling HPE Zerto, providing customers with continuous data protection (CDP) and near-instant recovery for virtualised and cloud workloads. The offering combines Zerto’s low RPO and RTO recovery capabilities with Cohesity’s data security and cyber recovery platform.
HPE will continue to resell Cohesity DataProtect as a modern data protection platform alongside purpose-built HPE storage and compute servers. HPE will also begin reselling Cohesity NetBackup, optimised for deployment with disaggregated backup and storage architectures including HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000 and HPE StoreOnce systems.
Virtualisation integration
Cohesity will deepen its integration with HPE Morpheus VM Essentials Software and HPE Morpheus Enterprise Software, targeting virtualisation and unified cloud management use cases. Availability of the enhanced integration is planned for mid-2026.
US federal deal underscores partnership
The two companies pointed to a recent US federal contract as evidence of the alliance’s momentum. HPE secured a hybrid cloud modernisation initiative with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), deploying a secure, sovereign cloud architecture using HPE GreenLake with integrated data protection.
The solution unifies fragmented legacy environments into a hybrid cloud supporting multiple security domains, with Cohesity providing data protection and cyber resilience capabilities across the platform. The arrangement operates on a consumption-based model aligned with HPE GreenLake.
Executive commentary
Cohesity Chief Executive Officer and President, Sanjay Poonen, positioned the expanded alliance as a response to enterprise demand for faster data protection and recovery.
“This collaboration puts HPE and Cohesity in pole position to bring even more powerful and integrated cyber-resilient solutions to our customers,” Poonen commented. “Enterprises everywhere want to confidently and quickly protect and recover their most critical data, and that’s precisely what we’re going to enable by pairing HPE’s trusted hybrid cloud infrastructure with Cohesity’s AI-powered data security platform.”
Fidelma Russo, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Hybrid Cloud and Chief Technology Officer at HPE, pointed to the operational simplification the partnership aims to deliver.
“Together, Cohesity and HPE are helping organisations modernise data protection while improving resilience and operational efficiency across hybrid and multicloud environments,” Russo explained. “This collaboration supports a simplified hybrid cloud operating model that secures and manages data wherever it lives, with greater performance and flexibility.”
ANZ perspective
James Eagleton, Managing Director for ANZ at Cohesity, framed the expanded alliance around what he described as consistent feedback from customers in Australia and New Zealand.
“This partnership tackles exactly what organisations in Australia and New Zealand are telling us they need – the ability to protect data continuously and recover from any attacks rapidly,” Eagleton noted.
“By combining HPE Zerto’s continuous data protection with Cohesity’s AI-powered cyber resilience and recovery platform, customers can detect and isolate threats faster while maintaining near-instant recovery capability – something increasingly important for those operating in complex hybrid cloud environments,” he continued.
“Alongside the sovereign cloud architecture we’re delivering with HPE for critical infrastructure, we have built a genuinely integrated approach to resilience, one that treats data protection and rapid recovery as non-negotiable operational infrastructure, not added-on security.”
